Question about Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 L. Hemi engine. The Electronic Throttle Control light comes on and when it does the engine will run but it runs rough and only at a minimum speed. We replaced the throttle body, but it still does the same thing.

Abs light is on intermittently as well as service electric break system, service 4wheel drive system, check engine light, and vehicle with wavy lines. 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 hemi. 140,00 hwy mi.

If you want to DiY, get an OBD code reader that'l connect to a smartphone. I use one with my two Mopars and it's great for pulling diagnostic codes (and recording GPS tracks). The brakes, electronic 4WD and traction control (wavy lines) are all critical safety systems; if you don't pull the codes yourself then get it to a good mechanic as soon as you can.

Electronic throttle control can't start jeep

Electronic throttle control (ETC) is an automobile technology which severs the mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle. A Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is used to control traction control, fuel injections, etc.

Does it turn over? If not, try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. This has worked for my Jeep before.

The egr valve is located on the front of the right cylinder head. It has a tube attached to it and going to the intake manifold. It has failed and is why your jeep is running rough and hesitating. Replace it and it will fix your driveabllity issues. Disconnect the battery for 2 min to clear the code.

Check your Racket Pinion, and gearbox. Make sure there is no moisture around it. Seems like you either have a leak in your suspension, or improper pressure somewhere inbetween your stearing box, and your front end.
