How to replace motor mounts on 2003 hyundai sonata

You really need the car on a lift or tall jack stands to do this. You will need a full set of hand tools, a good hydraulic floor jack, a set of Jack stands (AKA Safety Stands) and a 1.5 Ton bottle jack. Raise the front of the car as high as possible and unbolt the old mounts from the engine and engine cradle, then Carefully using the bottle jack (put a piece of wood on the plunger of the jack to avoid damage to the oil pan) raise the engine off the mounts and remove them, and reverse install new mounts, time about 2-3 hours to do the repair.

How to remove oil pan without pulling motor on 89 mitsubishi mightymax

You must disconnect the engine from the motor mounts and exhaust and remove anything that will interfere with raising it off the mounts as high as possible, once it is off the mounts and raised the pan can be removed. I read this at a owners site from a guy who has done the job, he said it is a real pain in the rear but doable.

How do i know which motor mount needs replacement

With car in drive/reverse and foot hard on brake if the engine moves when gas pedal is depressed and quickly released in both D&R, then that mount/mounts is defective...

Engine mount should be replaced if:

1) The hard rubber surface is covered with heat check cracks.

2) The rubber is separated from the metal plate of the engine mount.

3) The rubber is split through the center of the engine mount

The transmission case will crack or break if either engine mounts or transmission rear mount is broken...Here is a GM Service bulletin addressing the issue:

The transmission mount (see drawing) test:

>Raise and support the vehicle

>Raise the transmission/transaxle in order to remove the weight from the transmission/transaxle mount and create slight tension in the rubber.

Replace trans. mount if anyone of the three conditions listed above exist

How do you tell if your motor mounts are bad

Park vehicle on level surface, set the parking brake and chock the rear wheels. Disconnect negative battery cable and raise vehicle up and support it with jack stands. If equipped with air suspension disconnect electrical power to air suspension.Position jack underneath of engine oil pan, use piece of 2 x 4 or block of wood and raise engine slightly to take the weight of engine from motor mount. Inspect the engine mounts for crack or rubber deterioration and separation.

How do i disconeect the motor mounts i need to disconnect motor mounts so i can raise the motor and remove th oil pan

The motor mounts have a hinge bolt that goes through the upper engine hard bracket and the engine mount rubber section, it goes from from to rear in line with the engine, remove the nuts and take the load off the mount with a floor jack under the pan (use a block softwood to avoid denting the pan), once the nut and load is off slide the long bolt out and raise the engine.

How do you remove a oil pan from a 1984 z28 camero

Drain the oil completely, remove all the bolts and drop the pan. On 84 I don't believe you have to remove the tranny. Just remove the bolts.

You can go to and signup for a free account. Then login to the account, choose your vehicle year, make, model, and engine size. Finally click on view repair manual. Now you have a free repair manual for your vehicle.

When i back up or go forwad i heard a sound from all the ingenie like it is movning?

Without seeing, it's hard to come up with a solution, but raise the hood and have someone (or yourself) look at the engine motor mounts when the car is put in forward or reverse. You may have a broken motor mount.
Hope this helps... Good luck!

Motor mount

The engine mounts are located about the middle of the block on the side of the engine. The only other mount is located under transmission.
