Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer

1 Answer

I havea 1991 mitsubishi lancer here in the phillipines and giving me a problem of engine overheat specially during traffic, aircon on and noon time. this problem is going on for a very long time maybe years now. i have already check the engine timing, clean radiator, water line and etc. now the latest problem, water overflow from the radiator and tank reservoir, i could no longer use the car, i have done some other mean of removing the thermostart from the intake manifold, the engine run perfectly, radiator run normal, engine sound smooth, no overflow of water from radiator cap and after i switch off the ignition key. My question now is it ok not to replace the thermostat and install it back? I think it is stuck, few water passes from the thermostat after i check it. thanks Jun....I think in the US it is miisubishi mirage they call it..

I have a 2004 lancer Es when I turn the aircon on after 15 minutes of driving I cant change the gears the aircon works fine but renders the gears useless and have to turn it off to continue to drive

There is no relationship between the air conditioning system and the gear box in the vehicle.

The engine operates the aircon compressor via the serpentine belt from the crankshaft pulley and if the aircon is operating normally the aircom compressor will not be faulty either.

If you are having problems with the gearbox it has nothing to do with the aircon system. The issue will be with the gearbox itself.

Check engine comes in when engine starts to overheat, which it does in slow traffic. Radiator, fans, water pump are OK.

Did you check/replace the thermostat? Another possible cause may be hair line cracks in the head(s).

1994 mitsubishi lancer aircon problem..is it possible to change the mitsubishi aircon motor to nissans aircon motor?

best talk to an a/con technican as there is a size/capacity requirement for compressors. While it may be feasable to fit another compressor it needs matching tx valve condensor and evaporator to work properly. He should be able to tell you if it will work or not

Hi,
Sounds like your fan is not coming on. You will need to find out why.
Over heating your engine is never good.

It really does overheat a lot when in traffic.

You need to check youe water pump, thermostat and your radiator cap and if all of that is good it sounds like a blown headgasket.
