Did you check for a loose electrical connector on the trunk lock mechanism? There was a small two prong connector that was loose on my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am I connected it and the trunk button on drivers door now works and when I get a new key fob I am sure it will work.

Trunk will not open using the release button inside a 2004 lincoln towncar

Are you hearing the trunk solenoid engage when you press the button? Check for a blown fuse. Have someone listen at the trunk when you press the button. Check the trunk solenoid for a loose wire or it could be a bad trunk solenoid. If the trunk won't open easily with the key, it could be a sticky trunk lock mechanism.

more than likely, once you get boot open with key strip out trim to expose lock mechanism and spray a little wd 40 into plunger area and try to work back and forward with your fingers then try from switch you might be lucky and get away with out getting a new locking mechanism

Both of these systems are controlled by the Driver Door Module. If your fuses check out you might go there. Located inside the driver door.

The dash light indicating that door is ajar, but is not. dome lights won't go off and can't get into my trunk.

Hi ,
the most likely cause of this is a faulty micro-switch in the doorlocking mechanism on the drivers door,as for the trunk ,if you can`t open it via the remote control or the button inside the car, then it will be a fault in the boot locking solenoid or a blown fuse.It is possible that the 2 are related and that there is a fault in the central locking control module, but for this you will need to take it to a Jaguar trained garage.

2000 Ford Focus automatic door locks quit working. Replaced Central locking module, but still does not work. All of the doors will only work manually. Remote works to open trunk only - will not work on...

check fuse 63 first.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Binding latch mechanisms
  • Binding linkage
  • Misaligned door
  • Central junction box fuse 63 (20A)
  • Damaged wiring harness
  • Loose or corroded connection(s)
  • Circuit
  • Door lock switch
  • Door lock actuator

It could also be your GEM (generic electronic module) which is expensive as it controls a lot of stuff. A scan tool can be used to cehck for fault codes from the GEM.

Is there a fuse that controls the remote fobs? I

Yes there is a corresponding fuse. This simply means it has cut off.

Take your time to check the fuse box. You will find it.
