The best thing to do is go to the local library and pick up a chiltons/moter or mitchells repair manual. Any of these will have
the step by step procedure with pictures and illustrations and tips to do the job. Get the most recent book that covers 1999 it's likely to have the most tips and shortcuts. This is better then
me trying to describe the job from memory. But first check out this web site www.heatertreater.com they make modified blend
doors heavier then oem, and they come with instuctions for a
cheat installation that works well and cuts the labor in half.
I have not used this system myself but I have read about the
procedure and the next time I have do one of these I'm going to
try it, I know 3 other mechanics who have + they love it.
Check it out and see if they make the kit for the expedition.
Hope this helps.

The front heating on my 2001 lincoln navigator is blowing out cool air

This is commonly caused by a defective air temperature control blend door actuator or sticking blend door or in most cases both. This door is between the heater core and the AC evaporator cores and blends air from the hot and cold sources to give the desired outlet at at the dash registers. To replace the blend door requires the dash be removed from the truck so it is wise to have my guess confirmed by a Ford dealer. This is a common problem on the Ford Expedition and the Navigator model lines.

2000 FORD Expedition both heater hoses get warm. gets heat at first then turns cold front and back. I flushed the heater core and didnt get any gunk out. Is this the heatercore or is this the blend door

if the heater hoses are both hot its a blend door actuator, and possably the blend door its self, the way to make sure is to feel around under the dash . feel the black hvac box and if its feels warm then the heater core is good, you will have to remove the dash to replaced the bland door actuator and blend door ,i reccomend you replace both beacause its alot of work to remove the dash so make sure both components are replaced while you are in there

Where is the blend door on a 1999 F-150? I need to replace it.

it is inside the HVAC unit behind the dash, but you prob dont have a problem with the door itself it is usually the blend door actuator that goes bad 99% of the times. the bad thing is that you will more than likely have to remove the dashboard to replace it, the book gives 14 hrs to remove and replace the dash if i remember correctly. there is a shortcut but if you were doing it yourself i would not advise that you use it too many things can go wrong .....

No heat in my 2000 ford expedition

You should check your blend door, go to the center of your dash look down towards the floor right at the bottom on the hump (tunnel area) you will see a black or same as interior color, cover it has small slits cut in it, it is held in by two expanding type plastic bolts, they do not unscrew, just pull them out, one on each side. Once removed locate the white small box with a wiring harness connected to it, a little to the right hand side. This is the stepping motor that controls the blend door. Remove the stepping motor, and reconnect the harness, look at the motor drive unit and operate the heater control knob, does the motor turn, if it does then use a mirror and look at the drive end of the blend door itself, it is probably broken. If the door is broken, this repair just got difficult, the entire dash will have to be removed to access the environmental station, once accessed there are about 10 screws that hold the top cover on the enviromental station, undo these screws and remove the top cover, then you can remove and replace the blend door. If you are not comfortable with this difficultly level in repair I suggest you seek out your favorite local shop. removing the dash is not easy, there are alot of screws, some in very difficult places to reach. Testing the motor is easy. I hope this helps, let me know.

Heater core removal on a 99 ford expedition

To remove the heater core on this truck the entire dash must be removed, the A/C drained, and the coolant drained, once the dash is out you can access the environmental station, which houses the a/c and heater cores. The heater hoses to the core and a/c lines to evaporator core are quick disconnect and require a special tool. After removing the environmental station, disassemble the station by removing the screws, then you will be looking at the inside of the station, the core on the left side is the heater, the door is the blend door, and the core on the right is the a/c core. Re-install in reverse of disassembly, fill coolant and charge a/c. If you are not comfortable with this depth of repair I would find a reputable repair shop in your area and take it in for this repair. Hope this helps, let me know.

Heater not working properly, a/c puts out heat sometimes, but regular heater doesn't.

check your blend door, center of the dash at the bottom remove black cover, its above the white stepping motor, the motor turns the door with temp selection, when the door breaks you have no control over temp selection, check the stepping motor (white square box), by removing it and plug it in, and turn the temp knob does the motor turn, if not verify power in the plug and replace motor, if so use an inspection mirror and look at the bottom of the blend door (where motor mounts) see if it is broken. If the door itself is broken, this is a large repair, you will have to remove the entire dash from left to right to access the environmental station which is where the blend door is located. Hope this helps, let me know

2003 Ford Expedition Heater not working

This is all to common an issue in many Fords starting in the mid 90's, reason they went to a electric motor to control the air blend door , this motor moves the door air that diverts heat or cold from the AC, or mixes or blends it,the motor has failed or the door is stuck in the air duct, the bottom line is that to fix either problem the dash must be removed, no a job for the home mech, takes about 10-15 hrs to complete.
