MY RAV4 engine stalls while slowing down. Whats the problem do you think?

well lets try inspecting your coolant temp sensor for the ecu, not for your gage it is green whit two wires going into it, if any corrosion replace sensor and pigtail, your ecu may be dumping lots of fuel thinking eng still cold when is hot, this also wahs off your rings and by adding oil bumps compression and starts, hope this helps.

Rav4 wont start but cranking and no engine an overdrive light

Does this engine have fuel? Does it have spark? Is it getting air? These are the questions you need to answer. First thing you should check for is spark due to it being the easiest to diagnose. Hope this helps. Btw air is almost never the issue. So check for fuel next

2000 Toyota rav4 turns over but will not start

For an engine to start, you need three things...timing, spark, and fuel. Check the plugs to see that they are firing, check the fuel pump and fuel filter to see that fuel is being delivered, and check that all belts are intact and not frayed. it might give you a shock, but pull a plug and leave it connected to the plug wire. Turn the engine over while holding it on the engine block while still connected to the plug wire and make sure that the plug is firing as you turn the engine over. Once you have done all mechanical, check electrical. Could be a fuse in the relay panel.

Turns over but won't start. No symptoms leading up to break down.

I would start by checking for spark. Disconnect a spark plug wire from the spark plug. Put a screwdriver into the boot. and hold the shank of the screwdriver about 1/4" from a metal part of the engine. Have someone crank the engine and check for spark jumping from the screwdriver to the engine. Make sure you're holding onto the screwdiver handle. If there is spark I would next check for fuel. The best way is to put a fuel pressure gauge on the schrader valve on the fuel rail. In an emergemcy you can press the center of the schrader valve to see if there is fuel under pressure in the rail. Be extremely careful with this because you could end up with highly volitile fuel all over the top of the engine and possibly on you. The pressure gauge will also tell you if there is enough pressure to start the engine. The next step will depend on what you find with spark and fuel. It is possible to have both and still have a no start. A blocked exhaust system is one example.

You have two pumps,I guess you know that ,if you already did one. Did you check fuel pressure at the rail and check out the electronic pressure regulator? What codes are coming up and do they stay set?

RAV4 won't start

Your car is a fuel injector and it is bad running out of fuel when using this type of car.

Engine must have some bad parts. But get an expert to check and see if the engine is okay.

It sounds to me like the anti theft system was activated somehow; thats what the picture of a car with the lock through it means. I dont think the oil has anything to do with it, and neither does the transmission bucking when you make a shift. You might want to try getting the transmission fluid changed though.

My mechanic in our town did a quick computer check. Car computer indicated a low level of antifreeze, he topped it up, cleared all messages off the car computer and said to watch the the heat guage for any further irregularities. I'll keep an eye on it, love the car, great mileage fun to drive.
