The alternator is unserviceable which doesn't keep the charging system going. When the battery is fully charged the vech will run and drive for a while until it drains the charge down in the battery because it isn't being replaced by the alternator......Hope this helps.

I have a 2007 Mercedes R350. Both rear brake bulbs blew out at the same time. When I replace them they both immediately blew out again. Any idea what can cause this?

The foil where the bulb socket connects goes bad. They make a retrofit socket replacement solution. You will have to tap into the #6 wire (labeled on socket) for the drivers side and the #1 wire for the passenger side. Mercedes has a bulletin on this but refused to recall as of 2/1/2011. The parts at Mercedes are about $23.00 each side. Easy fix.
