Question about Pontiac Aztek

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek with a 3.4L engine. After changing oil, I have reset the oil change reminder light at least six to eight times. The light continues to stay on for two to three minutes after the engine starts. I will welcome any suggestions you have for me concerning this problem. Lou

HI!! Resetting

The control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic system runs and does not fail

  1. A current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) clears when the diagnostic cycle runs and passes.
  2. There may still be a history of DTC-s stored in the system. These will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by any other related diagnostic system
  3. Manual resetting of the MIL and any DTC stored in the system, requires the use of an OBD 2 scan tool connected to the data link connector for communication with the vehicle. Follow the instructions of the scan tool for both retrieval and resetting of DTC-s.

On some vehicles even if the change oil remainder light was reseted, it keep coming on for a while. Make sure the oil level is correct and that no oil leaks are visible. Also, make sure that the oil was replaced with the one recommended by the Manufacturer. If all this was done correctly. The light will go away.
Thank you for using FixYa

2) press accelerator pedal to the floor three times and release within 5 seconds,

I have aztek 2001, and anti-lock light on the dash is constantly on. We changed engine oil last week but it still ask for changing oil,and alarm/bell is turning on every time when we turning left or right,...

The most common cause for the abs light to come on is a bad wheel speed sensor. The oil light was probably not reset afte the oil was change. Try turning the key and pumping the gas pedal 3 times with in 5 seconds. The light should start flashing or it may have to be reset through the radio. As for the alarm would it be possible to elaborate on that?Is it the same sound as leaving your key in the ignition or not fastening your safety belt?

The procedure is in your owners manual.  On some GM's you turn on the key (do not start engine) and press the gas pedal to the floorboard 3 times within 5 seconds.

Ghange oil reminder

Talking about the "Change Oil" notification when you first turn on the key? You need to reset the indicator, by (guessing from memory, check your owners manual) turning on key, and pressing the brake 4 times in 5 seconds.
Hope this helps.
