When your gauges "Sweep" from all the way to the maximum position and then back to normal when you try to start, this indicates a failed battery or alternator. Have these checked and replace as necessary.
Good luck!

Lights are going crazy like bad ground or computer on my 1985 vette

If you are are talking about the dashboard lights, there is a known problem that causes them to go "crazy" as you call it. There is a part known as the tachometer filter. This is a capacitor that filters the noise coming mainly from the ignition and that causes the dashboard display to go "crazy". If that is your problem, go to Ecklers store on web and search for the tachometer filter. It comes with instructions. This part goes next and connects to your distributor.

My battery light comes on and everything just starts going crazy. radio shuts of, everything slows down. I have replaced the alternator and i am still getting the same problem. the auto mechanic has run...

I had a similar problem, the lights would go crazy, battery/odometer and drive selection display would flicker like mad. I replaced the battery problem has not been back. I would have battery checked, could be a bad/dead cell in battery. You could always use a known good battery to see if it stops it before replacing it. I thought this sounded far fetched when I encountered this problem but again, has not happened since.
Good luck
