How can I get key out which is stuck in ignition of 2008 cobalt. It also won't start

This can happen if the battery is low / dead. To solve, connect a set of jumper cables between the battery in the Cobalt and a running car's battery. Shut off the running car. In the Cobalt, make sure all accessories (lights, radio, fan, etc.) are off. Step on the brake, then move the gear shifter fully into the PARK position. Next, either attempt to start the engine, or turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition.

I hope this helps & good luck!

remove the plastic cover from the steering colum then you will see the switch on the left side remove the 2 screws you will need to turn the key to release the switch reverse to put together then you will need to relearn the switch to the body control module this is done by turning to crank and leaving it in the run position til the security light stops flashing you will need to do this three time after the third time remove the key for a min then start the car if possible but on a battery charger if the battery goes died during the relearn you will need to start over

Could be the BTSI solenoid in the shifter, have that checked . You may have to buy complete shifter if it proves bad. This would keep you from removing key. Call you local dealer with VIN number and mileage have them check for the recall pertaining to the key rotation, yours may or may not be involved.

Key stuck in igntion 2005 five 4 cylinder

The key being stuck in the ignition is because the cars gears wont go into park all the way.. The shifter is the problem with this. You need to take it to a mechanic so they can take your actual shifter apart and fix the little button you press on the actual shifter. Sounds dumb, but thats what they did for me, and the key comes right out. Also, if you dont get it fixed soon, you will have some horrible times ahead of you ..
