Question about Ford Focus

1 Answer

Hi, just purchased the focus used and having an issue already lol. When I'm stopped at an intersection or what not my engine is revving up from700 rpm to about 1100 rpm. I have to hold the brakes tight just so that I don't hit the car in front of me. Then when the car is put into park I can hear a clicking type of noise when this over-revving is occurring they happen at the same time. My car is an automatic 2000 se. It has about a 100 000 kilometers on it thank you for your assistance.

I have a 1993 ford festiva its a good little car it runs good when the engine is cold but when it warms up it sputters and dies on me when it dies it fires right back up like nothing ever happened It...

If it has an automatic choke, this will keep it revving more when the engine is cold and less when hot. Maybe adjust the idle setting screw on the carburettor so it revs slightly more. Try that before it is running hot. Only increase the revving gradually to the stage where stalling would be avoided when hot. Gradually so that there is not too much revving when cold. Adjusting and testing over a few runs could be a good strategy

Are the connections really dirty at the voltage regulator? These tend to get corrosion on them and cause weird charging system issues. Also make sure the ground is good on the regulator.

IF YOU DO THAN IT IS AN ELECTRICAL OR SENSOR PROBLEM. IF NOT THAN IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANNY PARTS, TORQUE CONVERTER, OR LINKAGE PROBLEM

96 Ford Taurus GL Revving problem when stop then go

Did you check the transmission fluid again. You could have a major leak. Or reving the car up so high it started to burn the clutches in your transmission, resulting in replacing the transmission. Always check the fluid. A few dollars for fluid is better than 1500 bucks for a new tranny

Very delayed ignition and weird start-up!

I do have a 04 TSX, but never came across the issue you report. However, I had an old car once that had a similar issue which I traced to a bad sparkplug which was replaced to fix the issue. Also, you could first try and check your batteries and maybe put a new one to see, if that resolves it. Hope it helps.
