Re: No reversing lights
Check a couple of things clean the base of your globes and sockets. your switch next to the shifter could be slightly out of adjustment check this by going through the gears to see if they light up that way. failing that check ur switch in the gearbox could be faulty. hope this helps.

it will be the revers switch that's connected to the gear box when you put the car van truck into reverse it hits a switch and turns reverse lights on might just be the wire has come off or the switch is broken
well im no auto electrician , but on most of the cars i have owned , on the manual gear box they had a switch which activated reversing lights , when reverse selected , dont know about an automatic transmission ,maybe if you had a look on the gear box for a switch , means getting under car though..
Check for your reverse lights switch which is located on the gear box housing. Sometimes the switch gets a dirt on the internal side (hole) and cause the fault. I personally before go for a new part,I wash it and blow air in the hole and re fit it and it works.
every vehicle is from factory either with one or two reversing lights. Check the tail of your car for a white cluster light unit and when car is not running just turn the ignition on position and put the reverse and go back of the vehicle and see. If you have a white reversing light unit but not working the you have to go on the gear box and check for the reverse switch.Possible not working. Just remove it and on the end which goes in the gear box has a roller ball, just put in a small can some clean petrol and put it in and with your hand push the roller ball in and out just to clean from some dirt might got in and stopped it working.
if you have an automatic gear box , then it is very possible that you have reverse band is broken inside gear box , , light will come on because switch for reverse lights may be actuated by shift lever not gears .
there is a foward band and reverse band in auto gerabox's so if you are able to drive forward this gearbox will need to be repaired or replaced .
if manual gearbox , you may find a reverse linkage loose , or gears dammaged in gear box .
good luck hope this helps
Could be one of these things:
Dodgy exhaust sensor.
Dodgy Timing Belt.
Kanckered EMS (expensive!!!)
At worst you could have a dodgy solanoid in the auto box (this is what happened to mine) and that'll eventually put the car into "limp" mode - meaning no reverse gear and gears 1-3 only with max speed of around 54 mph (usually accompanied by flashing engine management warning light in amber).
This set me back almost a grand to strip out the auto box and refurb it. The car has never been the same since either - it's ok but slower to change gear than ever before.
If the gearbox has a fault I would recommend ditching the car - it isn't worth fixing as the cost is roughly equal to the value of the car if it has a low mileage. If the mileage is above 100,000 you'd be lucky to get 1000 quid for the motor in the first place.
What you could be dealing with here, is a bad earth connection, or just as likely, a sticking or defective reverse lamp switch ( you'll find that on the gear box. If it's a manual it will have two cables and if it's an auto, it will be on the main gear selector switch)....The other alternative is, that the lamp holders or the connectors may be corroded inside and require cleaning or replacement....
