How hard is it to change a camshaft emission sensor in 2006 cobalt ss

It is a fairly common problem, the sensor itself will get hot and will not work correctly, It can be a monster to remove as it tends to swell up a little from the heat, The timing chain is most likely fine . It is just that sensor located on the backside of the engine, be sure to get the right one as some carry a camshaft and a crankshaft sensor.

2006 Cobalt 2.2 litre has check engine light come on, then "engine disabled"

That code dsoesn't 100% mean the sensor is defective, other factors can set it. See list below.
Possible causes- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
- Faulty starter motor
- Starting system circuit

2006 cobalt ss 2.4 automatic trans. check engine light code p0010 p0106

Code P0010 Intake camshaft position actuator solenoid control circuit ( CMP )

most common cause is a bad solenoid, but it could be many componets that could cause the code, if you want to try to repair it on your own the only thing you can do is replace the solenoid, all other componets require some speclized test equipment.

code P0106 manafold absolute pressure sensor ( MAP )

check for a good vacuum source to the MAP sensor if there is a good vaccum source then replace the sensor.

good luck
