Question about 1993 Lincoln Town Car

1 Answer

Lincoln TC 1993: I'm trying to repair driver-side window. ....won't roll up. I've done some research and started the job. STUMPED!!!!!! How do I release the metal end caps that finish the pull-closed straps on the door. I understand the they cover some screws that helps to hold the cover in place. I have tried several times to "pop them off" as I've been told they will. I've been using smallish flat blade screwdrivers. I don't want to ruin them with to much force or to big a tool. Anybody got any experience with removing these little suckkers? Thanks, larry

Driver side window is stuck it tries to roll up then rolls back down, is it off track? possibly?

You are right...the window has a broken track or hold down bolt...you can go on-line to see how to remove the door panel to inspect...If you are good at salvage yards, you can practice and maybe find the part you need...Dealers do this type of repair daily, but costs?

I had the exact same problem with my 93 Lincoln TC. Replace the switch under the drivers side dash or take to a auto repair shop which is what I did.

Passenger side window rolls down, not up.

New switch, and new motor, and still the problem! I wonder if the driver's switch (the master switch) for the pass. window is stuck in a position that won't allow for the passenger switch to operate normally. Not sure how you'd test that hypothesis without trying a new masterswitch, but maybe you can figure a way. And as you know, power for the windows is routed first through the master switch, and then to the other window switches.
I would think you could get the window up if you disconnected the actuator for the power windows. Just reconnect everything after you get the window up.
Good luck, Kollman.

Side right front window won't roll down from right side but will using the buttons on driver's side in a 1994 Lincoln Town Car

since it works from the left button its not the motor, so it would have to be the switch that,s bad. replace right side switch and you should be back to proper operation.

Drivers window will go down but not up

It may be that it is not on the track properly or your power window motor is old and tierd and can take the window down but it doesn't have the juice in it any more to bring it back up. replace the motor and it will work. This problem happened to me in my '76 ford ltd and a new motor fixed it.

There is no power to window switch is ok but won;nt roll down driver side or passanger side need to no how to get driver side window down antil i get fixed

Remove the door panel, and use two jumper wires to the window motor. One wire goes to a good, non-painted surface on the metal body of the van, for a good ground. The other wire goes to a 12 volt source. Touch the two wires of the window motor with the two jumper wires.

Tries to go up? Switch the jumper wires around, and try again.

Window will not roll up

Their is a separate motor for each window. The least expensive fix is to replace the entire track assembly and motor. This is not a big job if you have done it before but it could be if you are not mechanical.
