Question about 2002 Mercury Sable
Look on your steering system see if there is a little switch this is call a power steering switch or idle up steering switch this idles the vehicle up when under a load such as turning if there is moisture on it more than likely there is moisture in it as well these switches like most that detain fluids and oil have weep holes like a water for example when they go bad they leak replace it it might fix your problem
