Question about GMC Sierra 1500
Could you tell me if the MIL light on the dash is flashing, or if you have got any fault codes from it.
Please let me know and we can get this sorted for you.

Hi! The problem will surely be on the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. The MAF has big contribution on engine performance specially on the idling and vacuum supply. If the MAF is faulty the performance fails. Have it replaced and you'll be good. HOpe this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

I sure wish that you would say what kind of truck or car you have. as theirs more than 1 V8. You say the engine is a '99 and the body is a 2000? Has the truck ever run right since it was put together this way? Being the engine was changed let's say the engine changer did'nt finish his work. Their's lots of ground wires that go from different parts of the engine to ground, on the body. Back of the cyclinder head to the firewall back of the cyclinder head to the bolt that holds the engine to the transmission are many times left off. theirs also two black wire harness wires that go a this same bolt. theirs also a wire ( black) that bolts to the intake next to the therostate housing. theirs a blck ground wire that connects to the back of the altenater. theres a place on the distrubuter, to connect a ground wire, they don't always have one there but connect one anyway till you find the problem. the engine even though it seems like one big block of medel may not be connected all together as you might think, add ground wires till you find what works the tach climbing or changing with out the engine changing is always extra voltage and a well grounded engine won't do this. Unplug the altenater and run it and with the altenater off if it's fixed youknow whats not grounded good enough.
