Question about 2003 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

I have a 2003 olds alero. A few days ago in mid turn, signal on inside instrument panel was blinking and i heard the clicking sound as it blinked. Then suddenly it stopped. I would push the signal arm up (right), and down for (left) turn. signal lights wouldn't go on and no clicking. I checked outside signal lights later and they weren't working. I checked fuse. It was fine. I worked a few hrs then went out to see if i could figure out what was wrong. The signals were then working...inside and out. This has been happening frequently over the past few days, but I don't know what to do. Can't afford to take it to a mechanic right now. I need my turn signals. Could it be corroded wires or connections somewhere under the dash or by the fuse panel on drivers side? Could it be on the steering column? Is it some kind of little 3 or 4 prong box or something like that which I was told about that i can replace cheaply? I think its located under dash. HELPPPP! Thanks ..... francine

I would check for corrosion on the bulb connects first, as water and dirt may have gotten into the housing

My speedometer works but my digital odometer does not work on my 2003 old alero

This is one guy's advice: Replace the speedo head, that should take care of the problem."

This site is also interesting because the guy said
General Motors cars had instrument cluster problems from 2003 through 2006. When I researched instrument cluster problems on the Internet what I found raised concerns in me. Many of those vehicles had problems that began with the instrument cluster, but eventually led to the engine refusing to start.
(an electronic instrument cluster, digital instrument panel or digital dash for short, is a set of instrumentation, including the speedometer, that is displayed with a digital readout rather than with the traditional analog gauges. Many refer to it simply as a digital speedometer.)

Have a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer with a few issues. My turn signals no longer blink or flash that I know of..?

Okay, the first thing to check is to turn on the signal on one side and see if the outside signal light comes on. if the light comes on then try replacing the flasher. Also see if your 4way flashers work or if they are also out. if they are out then check your fuse first.
If the fuses are good then try the flasher, if the flasher does not solve the problem then you may need to replace the turn signal switch. I have worked on a few of these and most of the time it was a flasher or the turn signal switch. good day.

My 2003 chevy impala turn signals won't blink. the lights come on but won't blink. I have checked the fuse. it looked fine.

Your problem is your blinker or flasher, it is located under dash, behind the instrument panel right above the steering column. Cost is no more than $10.

Turn signal flashers will come on but won't blink

For 1994 Buick Lesabre 3.8L SFI OHV 6cyl the turn signal flasher is under the instrument panel to the left of the steering column brace. On the Bonneville, it may be on the left side on the shroud. The hazard flasher is under the instrument panel to the right of the steering column.

The turn signal flasher is installed in a clamp attached to the base of the steering column support inside the car. In all cases, replacement is made by unplugging the old unit and plugging in a new one.

Hope helped (remember rated and comment this).

2001 Oldsmobile Alero, Passlock 2

There have been alot of this type problem you describe. That body style of GM car has had meny ignition issues with the PASSLOCK 2 system. The system for some reason thought it was being stolen, and shut down. The security light might not blink or come on at all in some cases. It should but may not. (if there are issues with the BCM (Body Control Module) or ECM (engine Control Module) The Chime you heard may have been a security reset indicator notice. Thlling you that the Security System incountered a problem, and was ready again.

98 Elantra Turn Signals and Hazards Broken

Check your flasher. The flasher is a round metal thing inside the fuse panel. There are two fuse panels in the 98's, one inside the car by the hood release latch, and one under the hood by the battery. I'm not sure which one the flasher is in, but that definetly sounds like your problem. It simply plugs in like a fuse, and I would say it probably costs less than ten bucks, so I would try that first before anything and even if thats not the problem you only wasted a few bucks. Oh yea on a few cars the flasher might not be in the fuse panel, if it's not in yours its probably under the dash. If you cant find it or don't think you know what it looks like, I would go to the auto parts store and buy the new one, that way you know what your looking for. Good luck, hope this helped you.
