You can try a screw driver, it is the actual latch that you are talking about, I am assuming that you have the panel off, so trace it back to the handle or handle to latch whichever is easiest and see why it is not catching/working. The cable/rod may have lost it's keeper.

Sounds like the child lock has been put on, it's to stop children from opening the door. Open the door, look at the door catch, there is a slide switch near the catch, try sliding it the opposite way. compare it's position to the one on the other side.

How do I get the inside door panel off, passinger side ? Door lock hangs up.

get a stiff thin putty knife to slide behind the panel...slide it next to an unseen plastic fastner and carefully pry up...fasteners are easily replaceable if need be. remove any visible screws first..But, try to lube the lock mechanisim first....good luck

'03 windstar left sliding door lock operates inconsistently. Replaced lock motor. Only slight improvement if any.

Hi
Have you checked the catch rather than the lock mechanisim? sometimes if the latch is not alaigned correctly then the lock will struggle at times to open it.
Ensure the latch is perfectly lined up and Use WD-40 on any suspect sticky parts to free them off.

Regards
Dan

Inside driver's door release catch will not open door. have to wind down window & use outside handle to open. Any thoughts please. Volvo S70 T5 is car.

The little rod from the inside release catch to the door lock has been broken/come loose.

Take out the door panel and see what is the problem. Then either fix it or let someone to fix it.

How do you disable the baby locks on a 97 Ford Explorer 4 door

There is a latch inside the frame of the back door. You have to switch the latch to unlock and they will then allow someone in the back seat to open the doors.

From www.topix.com /forum/autos
1998 (2000) Expedition....child safety lock often kicked in by itself. SOLVEDI wedged it down with a rubber plug. - ALL OK for ~ 3 years.
Then lock "activated" even with lever DOWN.
All is FINE NOW - see below.
Rick
Milton, Canada
Remove the plastic cover around the lock lever. Spray a light penatrating oil (wd-40) in and around the lock leaver mechanisim and work the mechanisim up and down several times. This should free up the small gravity lock inside the mechanism.

Good luck.

Sliding door problem

You probably have a burnt out door lock soleniod, it's part of the latch, stuck in the locked position, you have to pry the latch from the inside, to release the catch, just replace the latch when done. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP
