I had the same problem with my 99. It uses gas shocks to lift the hood and one can spring a leak or they can both fatigue over time. You can get generic replacement gas shocks at any parts store.

...I ended up using a snow scraper to prop it up when I needed to work on it.

Check the air pump fuse under the hood (30 amp). If that's good, you probably need to replace either the solid state relay, the pump itself, or at worst, the ECU.

Dirty Valve Body in transaxle or internal wear

No easy fix there

The life of a taurus trans is about 65,000 avg from the
first one built thru whenever, late 90's
You can research that

I had a trans shop & caravans & taurus were 70% of the work
Just a lot of them out there I guess & when you don't change
the fluid everyone breaks down, that is 90% of any trans shop
business

Changing parts is not how you repair a vehicle

You test systems & components using wiring diagrams

No diagrams & reference material, how would you know

Ford taurus hood hydraulics not working so have to hold hood up. how can i fix

non working hydraulics are very common especially in ford vehicles, in order to fix the problem you have to go to ur local auto parts store and have them look up the vehicle that you own and find the right part numbers for the hydraulic arms. It is a very simply process and takes no time to change out. Good luck with it.

normally, the fuel pump relay and fuses are in a box , that is located under the hood on the drivers side of your car, it has a plastic cover, and most of the covers have diagrams on the inside informing the person , just where the relay or fuse is located.

Hi i may be able to help with the problem, it sounds like you have a charging or battery issue. first i you need to check the battery connections, then find out if you have any charging problems, you will need to take the vehicle to an advance auto parts to have the charging and starting system checked. it may be something as simple as a bad connection or an alternator.

Relays for fan are located under the hood drivers side. If your fans are not kicking on it might be the coolant sensor not working right.
