If I remember correctly, everything is inside the distributor. I believe you will have to replace the distributor to correct your problem.

Died while driving and wont start

CK your distributor rotor ....pull it off and look in side the hole where it fit on the distributor shaft if it really black in side replace it . If OK then either your ignition module ( inside the distributor a little black block with wires going to both end of it ) or the Stator inside the distributor has shorted out . The stator is kinda hard to change if you don't have the right tools . i think rebuilt distributors from the parts store have gotten a lot cheaper then they use to be ; you may want to change the whole thing a new one will come with a new module and stator

1997 chevy s-10 6 cy 4.3, how hard is it to change a cam sensor and if i do change it should i also tune it up? ty

It's not too hard. It's mounted under the distributor cap, in the distributor, you'll need to remove the rotor and turn the distributor shaft enough to get room to get it out of the housing. I would do a tune up at that time too, cap, rotor, wires and plugs.

How hard is it to change the cam positioning

it is not that bad. easier than a tune-up. it is under the distributor cap under a plastic dust shield. three wire sensor. remove cap and rotor , then dust shield and then the two screws holding it down. install in the reverse!

good luck

My distributor is out 96 Honda Civic LX. How hard

Why do you think the Distributor is out? It's not hard to replace if you have the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle and understand how to get to TDC and line up everything. But it is very rare that a Distributor goes out. If it is not turning it is more likely that your timing Belt has broken than the distributor going bad.

1996 Jeep Gand Cherokee won't start in the rain Thinking distributor and wires. Is the distributor hard to change out?

Don't change the entire distributor, just cap, rotor and wires. Make sure you know where each wire goes. (best to replace them one by one) Use high quality parts and they will give you better service.

Car wont start mechanic says something about distributor

I had a similar problem with an old VW many years ago. For me, it was condensation in the distributor cap. Try spraying WD40 inside the distributor cap & see what happens. It can't hurt & might help. Hope it does.
