The 1st thing u need to do here is has the electronic engine control system tested for codes, a stall like this will almost always leave a fault code in the control computer memory, any Kragen or Autozone parts store will run the test for free, it is called an "OBD2" fault code test. I caution u on accepting any advice from the stores staff on any code received, they are not trained techs in electronic engine control and there advice can cost you money and not fix the problem, always seek advice from a qualified electronic engine control tech.

There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--

1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.

2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.

3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.

4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it's a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Something major has malfunctioned. The shut-down is performed to prevent damage to the engine. Get it serviced.

"Warning Lights" on the dashboard of "1995 Nissan Maxima"

The warning lights coming on with the key in the on position is normal. If the key is turned to the start position and the engine will not crank over, suspect an internal starter motor problem or lack of power to the starter solenoid. You can try tapping on the starter motor with a blunt object while someone holds the key in the crank position to see if it starts when this problem occurs. If it starts using this procedure, the starter motor will be defective

I was driving my 1995 plymouth grand voyager about 55 and went to accelerate when engine shut off and now all it has is a click but wont restart what could be problem

Sounds like the alternator went out (quit charging) and you have been running on the remaining charge of the battery until it was depleted. Try a jump start to crank it again , if it restarts, remove cables and look at dash warning lights for a red battery. It will not run long before it shuts down again. Alternator replacement will be needed. Hope this helped. Good Luck !

Battery, brakes and check engine light came on but the car will still run when driving with the problem lights on the car transmission would shut down but the engine still runs if you shut the car off it...

Year make and model ?
On some cars the brake warning light and battery warning light are on the same circuit. A problem with either system will turn both lights on. The check engine light means there are trouble codes in the computer that need to be retrieved to assist in troubleshooting the problem.

1998 chevy s10 driving along and engine shut down.after sitting 10 min.it started but was rough.went 100.ft and it shut off again.sat for a while.it started and ran a couple miles like nothing was ever...

if it shuts off while driving and will not start back up for at least 10 minutes, then it may be the crank sensor doing this. is check engine light on! if so get it scanned to find problem code. if no scanner, auto-zone will scan for free. if light is on. CPS symtoms are: car dies and won't re-start till it cools down, or won't start at all. good-day ! crank sensor timing will be out of sync. it controls timing and sends info to pcm.

Dash lights dimmed, car shut off, won"t start

if any of your warning lights came on be fore it died, and if you have no cranking power to start the car i would get the alternator tested or do it your self with a voltage meter. get a jumpstart and the alternator should be putting out 14.8 dc. if not then you need a new one
