My 1997 aurora turns over but will not start. Gas is pulled fuel pump.. It is working but its like no power is being sent to it??


pull a plug wire off and hold it above plug, have someone turn ignition key to on and crank engine over. if the electrical is working you should see a big spark (or get a shock if holding it incorrectly) if neither - then your electrical needs to be traced out for loos or broken ignition wires.

Check this SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT - REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the ignition coils (lines at end this document), then return here once you have gotten the Coil
Packs off and precede with step 2 from here.
2. Clean the spark plug recesses with low pressure air. CAUTION: Wear safety glasses
when using compressed air, as flying dirt particles may cause eye injury. NOTE:
Clean the spark plug recess area before removing the spark plug. Failure to do so could
result in engine damage because of dirt or foreign material entering the cylinder head, or
by the contamination of the cylinder head threads. The contaminated threads may prevent
the proper seating of the new plug. Use a thread chaser to clean the threads of any
contamination.
3. Remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head. NOTE: Allow the engine to cool before
removing the spark plugs. Attempting to remove the spark plugs from a hot engine may
cause the plug threads to seize, causing damage to cylinder head threads.
4. Inspect the spark plugs.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Measure the spark plug gap on the spark plugs to be installed. Compare the measurement
to the gap specifications. NOTE:
• Use only the spark plugs specified for use in the vehicle. Do not install spark
plugs that are either hotter or colder than those specified for the vehicle. Installing
spark plugs of another type can severely damage the engine.
• Check the gap of all new and reconditioned spark plugs before installation. The
pre-set gaps may have changed during handling. Use a round feeler gage to ensure
an accurate check. Installing the spark plugs with the wrong gap can cause poor
engine performance and may even damage the engine.
2. Install the spark plugs to the cylinder head. NOTE:
• Be sure that the spark plug threads smoothly into the cylinder head and the spark
plug is fully seated. Use a thread chaser, if necessary, to clean threads in the
cylinder head. Cross-threading or failing to fully seat the spark plug can cause
overheating of the plug, exhaust blow-by, or thread damage.
• Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the spark plugs to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
3. Install the ignition coils.

IGNITION COIL(S) REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct.
2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the oil pressure sensor (2).
3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness retainers (1) from the power steering pump (2).
4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (1, 4) from the following:
• The exhaust camshaft position (CMP) sensor (5)
• The camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve (6)
5. Disconnect the engine wiring harness retainer (2) from the camshaft cover (3).
6. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors from the following:
• The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (1)
• The fuel injector harness (2)
• The ignition coils (4)
• The heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) (5)
7. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the intake camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
8. Carefully disengage the engine wiring harness conduit from the camshaft cover, and position aside.
9. Remove the ignition coil bolts.
10. Remove the ignition coils from the camshaft cover.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the ignition coils into the camshaft cover. IMPORTANT: Ensure the ignition coil seals are properly seated to the camshaft cover.
2. Install the ignition coil bolts. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
3. Attach the engine wiring harness conduit to the camshaft cover.
4. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the intake CMP sensor.
5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors to the following:
• The ECT sensor (1)
• The fuel injector harness (2)
• The ignition coils (4)
• The HO2S (5)
6. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (1, 4) to the following:
• The exhaust CMP sensor (5)
• The CMP actuator solenoid valve (6)
7. Connect the engine wiring harness retainer (2) to the camshaft cover (3).
8. Connect the engine wiring harness retainers (1) to the power steering pump (2).
9. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the oil pressure sensor (2).
10. Install the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct.

How do you change spark pulgs in 2004 f150 v8


Remove coil wiring and one bolt 7mm loosen and remove with a magnet dont drop the small bolt. Slowly twist coil back and forth and pull at the same time removing coil DO NOT Remove spark plug if emgine is HOT. YOU must blow out all durt and sand from out around spark plugs if you dont sand and durt will fall into engine. Then brake loos spark plug if plug dosnt come loos DO NOT fors it. Us lite oil wd40 or atf 6 or 8 drops. and work plug back and forth until you work it loos and remove it you must tack your time. Do this with hand tools only! (Not air tools). To install new plug us a rubber hose 3/8 fuel line will work 6" long to start the pluge in the hole then tork it down. (DO ONE AT A TIME) tack your time I like motorcaft plugs no come backs.

My car can run the engine smoothly. Around 30" after release the throttle, engine has stop. But easily it can start again. What the real problem. "Model Sonata 2 - VR4 engine". TQ


Loo around in the engine compartment for any hoses that have come un-plugged from their original locations.

I had this same problem while changing the head gasket on an 02 sonata, I forgot to plug the brake booster vacuum line back in; the car would start and run while i held the gas pedal down, however it would die when I let off.

warming engines will expand..and old wornout gaskets will not... you could be looing cylinder pressure....

#2 clyinder not firing in a 02 eldorado with 19000 miles on the car


There are several possibilities.
Based on the year (2002) and low miles (19,000) it probably has the original Plugs, Wires and Coil. Rubber insulation on Wires does dry rot over a period of time. Spark Plugs should be changed about every 3 to 4 years regardless of miles. Wires should be replaced every other Spark Plug change. Translated you should be on you 3rd set of Spark Plugs and 2nd set of wires.
When working in the engine compartment and with the electrical system remember: ther is 40,000 to 75,000 volts present. Bad Wires could mean an electrical shock!
You can cheaply purchase Ignition (Spark Plug/Wire/Coil) Test Kits at most auto parts stores or even at Harbor Freight.
1) Remove the #2 Wire connection to the #2 Coil position.
2) Insert the tester into the #2 Coil position. Clipping the other end onto the engine block or onto a good ground.
3) Start the Engine.
4) You will be looking for a good strong (blue) and rhythmic spark. If it is not strong (yellow or orange) nor rhythmic, the Coil is malfunctioning and should be replaced.
5) If it is a good rhythmic spark, Turn OFF the Engine.
6) Disconnect the Tester and reconnect the #2 Wire to the #2 Coil position.
7) Disconnect the #2 Wire from the #2 Spark Plug.
8) Connect the Tester into the end of the #2 Wire. Clipping the other end to the engine block or a good ground.
9) Start the Engine.
10) Again you are looking for a strong (blue) and rhythmic spark. If is not strong (yellow or orage) and rhythmic, the Wire is bad and should be replaced. Wires should always be changed as a Set is the standard rule.
11) If it is a good rhythmic spark, Turn OFF the Engine.
12) Remove the #2 Spark Plug out of the engine.
13) Check the Igntion end of the Plug for carbon, dirt, or being fouled. Check the Gap.
14) Insert the #2 Spark Plug back into the #2 Wire.
15) Using the Spark Plug Tester. Connect the Tester to the #2 and clip the other end to the engine block or a good ground.
16) Start the Engine.
17) Once again you should be checking for a strong (blue) and rhythmic spark. If it is not strong (yellow or orange) nor rhythmic, the Spark Plug could be malfunctioning.
18) Clean the #2 Spark Plug.
19) Regap the #2 Spark Plug.
20) Retest the Spark Plug.
21) If there is now a strong (blue) and rhythmic spark, then the #2 Spark Plug is now good.
22) If there is not a strong (yellow or orange) nor rhythmic spark the #2 Spark Plug is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Again the standard rule is to replace the Spark Plugs as a set.

The several other possibilities relate to sensors. However without additional error codes or the check engine light on, we will assume that the problem can be solved with the solution above.

Spark Plug Wires - Removal & Installation

3.5L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot. Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the wire could be damaged.
  2. Remove the intake manifold cover, if required.
  3. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  4. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
  5. Remove the spark plug wire clips from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor bracket and the heater inlet and outlet pipe tab.
  6. Remove the spark plug wire assembly.
  7. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clips and remove the appropriate spark plug wire.
  8. Disconnect the right side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  9. Disconnect the right side spark plugs from the ignition coils.
  10. Remove the spark plug wire assembly.
  11. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clip and remove the appropriate spark plug wire.
To install:
  1. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
  2. Connect the right side spark plugs to the ignition coils.
  3. Connect the right side spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  4. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clip and install the appropriate spark plug wire.
  5. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
  6. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  7. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the ignition coil.
  8. Install the spark plug wire clips to the MAP sensor bracket and the heater inlet and outlet pipe tab.
  9. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clips and install the appropriate spark plug wire.
  10. Install the intake manifold cover, if required.

Need spark plug wiring sequence, 1985 toyota corolla 1600 2 door hatchback, rear wheel drive


With the 2T-C, 3T-C, and 3K-C engines the Firing Order is 1-3-4-2
The distributor rotates ->Clockwise. (The rotor actually)

Number 1 spark plug tower on the distributor cap, faces directly towards the engine. Number 2 faces the back of the engine, Number 4 faces the front of the engine, Number 3 is to the outside away from the engine.

Number 1 spark plug is at the front of the engine. 1-2-3-4

With the 4A-C engine, and other A-Series, the Firing Order is 1-3-4-2
The distributor rotates ->CounterClockwise.

Number 1 spark plug tower is towards the engine, and faces the back of the engine. Number 3 spark plug tower is away from the engine, and faces the back of the engine.
Number 2 spark plug tower is towards the engine, and faces the front.
Number 3 spark plug tower is away from the engine, and faces the front.

You didn't specify whether you have the (4) cylinder or the (6) cylinder engine..... I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L 4 cylinder and I just changed the spark plugs in it. I believe that the 2005 2.4L engine is the same. To locate and change the (4) spark plugs on a 2004 Hyundai 2.4L 4 cylinder engine: Remove the (4) 12mm bolts from the decorative plastic engine cover. Remove plastic cover from engine and place it off to the side out of your way. Standing in front of the car, the (4) spark plugs are located laterally (left to right) in the recessed area underneath where the plastic engine cover was removed. Note: This engine has (2) coils....They are located above spark plugs number (2) and (3) from left to right. Starting with the fist spark plug on the left: Remove the spark plug cable by pulling straight up on the insulated connector. Using a spark plug socket, remove the old spark plug and install a new one in it's place. To access the second spark plug from the left, remove the electrical connector and the spark plug cable wire from coil number (1) and then remove the (2) 12mm bolts that secure the coil to the engine. Spark plug number (2) is located directly under the coil. Lift the coil straight up removing the insulated connector from spark plug number (2). Using a spark plug socket, remove old spark and install a new one in it's place. Repeat same procedures for spark plugs number (3) and (4). Note: If you have the (6) cylinder engine, the front (3) sparks pluge are readilly accessible but in order to access the (3) rear spark plugs, you will have to remove the intake manifold

I can't find the spark plugs in my 2005 sonata

Remove the (4) 12mm bolts from the decorative plastic engine cover. Remove plastic cover from engine and place it off to the side out of your way.
Standing in front of the car, the (4) spark plugs are located laterally (left to right) in the recessed area underneath where the plastic engine cover was removed.
Note: This engine has (2) coils....They are located above spark plugs number (2) and (3) from left to right.
Starting with the fist spark plug on the left: Remove the spark plug cable by pulling straight up on the insulated connector. Using a spark plug socket, remove the old spark plug and install a new one in it's place.
To access the second spark plug from the left, remove the electrical connector and the spark plug cable wire from coil number (1) and then remove the (2) 12mm bolts that secure the coil to the engine.
