Question about 2001 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Accent and the dealership told me to drive in overdrive for better mileage. I already replaced a transmission at 80,000 miles. Wondering if I should turn off the OD?

Driving in overdrive should not destroy a transmission. Just keep an eye on the fluid level.

The first thing to do is change the transmission filter and fluid. This service should be done every 80,000 miles. If the OD light continues to flash after the filter service is done, then perform an OBDII scan of the stored fault history. Look for a transmission speed sensor fault. A bad speed sensor will result in no torque converter lock-up and no overdrive function. Also look for a bad torque converter lock-up solenoid fault. This solenoid can be replaced when accessing the trans filter (while the trans pan is off)

2001 hyundai accent overdrive button

The overdrive will only come into use when the transmission module reads the correct revs/ road speed ratio. Switch if off for heavy city traffic driving to improve economy when it moves up and down all the time. No it will not harm the transmission otherwise.

94 gmc 4x4 1500 overdrive sometimes works

Check for a transmission speed sensor fault (OBDII scan). Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up, and no overdrive. Also transmission filter should have been changed at 80,000 miles. Age of your vehicle(1994) warrants the filter service. Transfer case (4WD) needs to be serviced as well.

2002 PT Crusier CODE P0601

Unfortunately that code only has one solution, a replacement engine computer. I am pretty certain you can get a replacement used from a wrecking yard. You would want one from the same year, model, engine, transmission, and matching anti-theft/security key system provision (with or without)? Then you would want to take it to a shop that would put in the proper VIN number and mileage reading into the memory of the computer.

Transmission not shifting properly

Usually transmissions are not fixable. If you're on the original transmission with 145k miles then it's probably had it's life. You could keep driving it like that but it's gonna die soon. I suggest replacing it or buying a new car, whichever is cheaper. A new transmission will cost a couple thousand depending on the year of the car.

Mileage for transmission Servcie for 2006 Dodge Sprinter

160,000 KM (100,000 miles) intervals under normal driving conditions. 80,000 KM (50,000 miles) under severe condition. The differential also has the save service time as the transmission. Good luck and hope this helps.

2001 impala will not shift into overdrive

your overdrive clutch hub has gone out/worn out.
It can be replaced or you could have the whole transmission re-built or replaced with a low mileage one from the salvage yard , etc at a lower cost..(which is what I did)
This is common on these trannys.
