Question about Alfa Romeo Spider

1 Answer

Thanks for your prompt response. I had serious issues with poor, less than adequate texts when i built the motor and installed. There was no specific info provided regarding flywheel/cam sensors? I did notice a raised 'nipple' on the flywheel when i installed it to the crank, but set it up instead against the marks my machinist made when he balanced the crank/flywheel assemb. Where should this 'nipple be positioned when the crank is at TDC on the firing stroke? Also regarding the cam sensor you reference, where would this be located? I did notice on the intake cam, a variable timing assembly that is different that the cams used in the Spika mechanical systems. I checked after running and the cams are set right on the money. A strobe test indicated that the timing is also very close. The engine fires right up, but doesn't like to idle very well and coughs and spits and just doesn't have any beans when operated. Frustrating!. Thanks tom

Hi! Looks pretty good to me regarding the timing... The problem will surely be on the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. The MAF has big contribution on engine performance specially on the idling and vacuum supply. If the MAF is faulty you'll surely have a rough idling so this will definitely require replacement. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

How do I find step by step Instructions for installing a nitrous kit in a HEMI and SRT8 6.4 Liter Dodge Charger?

best people are speed shops and engineering shops that specialize in high performance engines. Best advice--- talk a lot and get real advice because if you get it wrong you will be looking at real serious damage to the engine and car.
The engine will have to be specifically built to handle the nitro addition, the nitro should only be used at high rpms and for short periods ( seconds)
Do not believe what you see in the movies as that is not what it is all about.

We need a dodge wiring diagram 1974 chasis for a vouge motorhome

since Vogue made bodies for dodge as well as Ford,, the diagram for the Ford or Dodge portion itself would be in a manual that addresses that make and model,, for the Vogue end of it, you will need to contact them for the conversions they use for each as per Jim... The Vogue II was built from 1985 till 1987. Then the Vogue III was built in 1988 and some 1989's Then came the Prima Vista built for 1989 till 1996. Then the Vogue 5 come along from 1996 till 1999. If you see a Vogue with a later date than 1999 it was still built in 1999 but sold in 2000 2001 or 2002. There was no Vogue built after 1999. Vogue motor coaches were built from 1973 till 1999. Cosmopolitan's were gas jobs built and sold for a lot less than the Vogue II. A much cheaper built coach. You might see a Vogue 6. Featherlite started to build 3 of them in 2000 but never finished them. 2 Were bought and finished by independent builders. Please rate my response as I am trying to up my percentages Thanks

Produce 24v 300amps of power from alternator w/out car engine

Yes, BUT, you better have a battery, or batteries installed in the system, that add up to 24 volts (I assume this 24 volt alternator has a built-in voltage regulator?)

If there isn't anything to 'tell' the voltage regulator, to just put out the needed voltage to keep 24 volts running smoothly, it will put out way more than that, And BURN up!

1999 Nisian Maxima and need to know what codes mean?

P1320 Ignition Signal
Signal wire from distributor
P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)
O2 senor ( The one before the cat converter )
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
The misfire detection monitor, a software strategy built into the computer, is designed to detect an engine misfire. The computer can also normally identify the specific cylinder in which the misfire has occurred. A misfire is nothing more than a lack of combustion, which can be caused by poor fuel quality or metering, low compression, lack of spark or unmetered air entering the engine. There are other possible, less obvious causes as well, such as uncommanded Exhaust Gas Recirculatin (EGR), flow. When the misfire monitor detects a misfire, it will trigger the check engine light with the specific cylinder number as the last digit in the P030X code. For instance cylinder 1 misfire is P0301, cylinder 2 is P0302 etc. In this case we have either multiple cylinders misfiring, or the computer simply can't determine the specific cylinder, and as such we are left with the P0300 in computer memory.
Possible Causes:
Fuel injectors, related wiring, sensors and computer issues
Running out of gas, or poor fuel quality
Evaporative emissions system (EVAP) concerns: fuel vapors leaking into engine
Incorrect fuel pressure

EGR system concerns: leaking EGR valve or restricted ports
Base engine concerns: low compression, valve train problems and timing issues
Ignition system concerns including, but not limited to:
Faulty spark plugs
Faulty coil or related wiring
Ignition module or related wiring issues
Ignition related sensor faults or wiring issues

I'm currently installing my 3 replacemnet Turbo

There are a few different things that will cause you to destroy turbos. It is very important that when you change the turbo you also change the mesh filter inside of the banjo bolt in the oil feed line to the turbo. This filter tends to get filled with sludge if you are not changing the oil enough, using poor quality oil, or if your turbo has gone bad, metal get stuck in this filter. Also make sure there is no metal pieces left in the oil feed line or any where else in the system.

You may also want to look into getting a turbo timer. This will give the turbo adequate time to cool down after driving, reducing the chance of warping the turbo.

Is a problem if i used motor oil 10w40 in my toyota tacoma 2002?

No,you will not have any negative issues with this oil, other than some slightly slower cranking if the ambient temperature is very, very low. If you had one of the more "technical " Toyota engines, with the "variable valve timing system", you would have an issue.
Tacomas do NOT have the VVT system,
Have no fear, run it without worry.
I hope this has satisfied your question. Thanks for choosing FIxYa.
