Fan belt keeps breaking why?

Normally, if you keep breaking belts it will be either to much tension on the belt; misaligned components that cause the belt to be "bent". It would depend on how the belt breaks. If it is streatched then I would thing tension. If it is chewed up on the sides, then a misalignment problem

The belts may look good but a glzed belt will cause a noise, have the crank pulley checked to make sure the center rubber that holds it together is not spinning and causing the noise, if its good then have the belts replaced, and that should solve the problem,

Replaced belt and tension idler pulley. Still have noise when car is in motion, but only when very cold outside. What else might it be. The noise is a squeeking noise from right side front end.

You don't say what model, but the squeeking "only when very cold outside" is diagnostic.

The belt and tensioner you changed was likely for the alternator. Possibly the belt is still a bit loose.

There is also the power steering and A/C belt if fitted. One of these other belts is loose or the A/C idler bearing is jamming.

Ford 3.9 freestar....I have a belt like squeek around the crankshaft area with the belt removed. What could it be?

hi
It is probably caused by the crankshaft pulley! Have it replaced because it will certainly break down within a short period and can cause severe damge to your car.
inspect it if it is still usable and just need tightening. if not then it could be replaced.
feel the tension on each belt and adjust it to the right tension.
all you have to look is a tension er , loosen the nuts that is holding it and increase the tension of the belt by turning the bolt to move the pulley away from the center. but if the pulley is all the way to the back and the belt is still loose, then its time to replace the belt.

hope u will b helpfull

Belts on car keep breaking, in cold and hot weather

check all the pulleys for side play, and for small pieces of belt.if there is a belt tensioner, check it and make sure that it is free to move.on alot of vehicles,it is a bad tensioner that breaks the belts.the tensioner bearing gets hot, seizes up and the belt burns.if your car does not have air conditioning, that is the third belt. get a belt routing diagram if there is not one under the hood.make sure the belts are not overtightened.there hould be about an 1/8 inch deflection in the center of the belt, and a 30 degree twist from side to side.

Problem with Altenator belts Etude

the problem is not the altenator. you should have a idler pully and a self adjusting idler tensioner. if thes e go bad the bearings tend to seize up and break belts i would check these first chance you get the tensioner should be spring like and be hard to move back and forth the pulley part of it should spin freely with out makeing a noise. please rate this
