Check your hydraulic clutch slave cylinder on the transmission for leakage and check the reservoir fluid level. If the reservoir has run low, you may have air in the lines. If the slave is leaking, replace the slave and bleed the system. Let me know if you need instructions or have more questions.

had simular problem was ready to tear out the cluch and throwout bearing when just by chance i decided to check pedal clearance measurment. what i found was the brake/clutch pedal assembly that mounts to the fire wall had a small split in the metal right beside the clutch spring from yrs of being pushed to the floor and evry time i pushed the clutch it only go so far b4 the metal would start flexing so it wasn't ingauging and all the way.fixed with running a hole all the way through firewall by the split and bolt&nut tighten down.worked way better then i would of thought. or if no defects in metal you can try letting out all the way on the clutch pedal(with it out of gear) after you start it and pumpimg it one time so the bearing gets a chance to stop and get where its supposed to then try putting in reverse and see if it helps(know that this is a temperary, cheap fix to a permanent problem untill parts can be bought)

Put a cluth in a 1991 toyota mr2 turbo 2.0 and its still grinding when I shift gears.. what can I do to solvve my problem

have you replaced your fly wheel and release bearing when you changed your clutch disc?

if yes, then replace your transmission fluid.
also, if you know hot to adjust your clutch release, adjust it. adjust it in a way that you need to draw back your clutch pedal a little higher for the clutch to complete engage.

here are some ways to adjust your clutch.

1. for clutch using clutch cable. open your hood, locate for the transmision, and there you can see a cable that connects the transmision and the clutch pedal. loosen in up a little.
2. for hydrovac clutch with self correcting features. just pull your clutch pedal away from the floor for a few seconds and its done.
3. for hyrovac without self correction. manually adjust the push rod (metal rod that connects the clutch pedal to the clutch master)

indicates you have installed the clutch plate incorrectly
the raised hub section is hitting on the flywheel bolts instead of facing back into the pressure plate
opening
only fix is box back out and turn the plate around

It sounds like your clutch isn't releasing properly. Do you need to adjust the pedal free play or bleed the hydraulics? If that doesn't fix it you may need take another look at the clutch you put in.

I have a 1997 toyota rav4 manual 4X4 , Everytime I shift up into 4th gear it does a slight grind but it doesn't do it down shifting.

Sounds like you have a scrinco stuck or worn out and the way you will get away with out grinding till you can get it done is to drive it like the old cars and trucks and that is to double de clutch between 3rd and 4th
all you do is to clutch in pull into nutural clutch out and in again fast and in to 4th gear (simple).

Yep, you got it. Assuming spring tension on pressure plate feels normal (you should know with 150k mi) then the clutch disk is worn. Time for replacement.

2003 toyota mr2 spyder 5 speed transmission grinding noise

Here is what is going on. When you push in the clutch pedal you remove the connection between the engine and the transmission. At this time all the parts in the transmission stop rotating.Since the only parts in the transmission that can rotate without moving the car are the input parts we can safely assume that the noise can only be from there. This can be a transmission input bearing. Worn Synchro mechanism (allows the transmission to shift without grinding the gears)Low fluid in the tranny. Or a bad clutch component. Top off or change the fluid. If it still makes the noise you need to take it to a tranny shop.
