The shift solonoides are on the transmission and can be noticably seen as the size of a soda can bottom sticking out of the side trans.

I'm replacing the shift solenoid in my 2004 Buick Rendezvous but I can't find any diagrams showing the location or how to change it out. Can you please help?

WHen you refer to the shift solenoid, are you meaning the solenoid that locks and unlocks the shift lever? If so, before you change this, check if your brake lights are working! A common fault for this solenoid to not work is either a blown fuse or failed brake light switch- the solenoid is activated by you pushing the brake pedal which sends its signal from the switch!

I hope this helps? Good luck!

I'm replacing the shift solenoid in my 04 Buick Rendezvous but I can't find any diagrams showing the location or how to change it out. Can you please help?

Shift solenoids are located inside the transmission behind the valve body. If you have never been inside a transmission before I would advise taking it to a professional. If the valve body is not put back in correctly, more specifically the check balls, the car WILL NOT shift correctly. If you are still interested in doing this I can get you the diagrams and steps you need. However, I will need more information about your vehicle. A VIN # will give me the correct Engine and Transmission combination to help you. Again, I would strongly suggest that you bring this to a transmission pro.

Transmission wont shift after 2nd gear

I wouldn't think that two transmissions would have the same bad 2-3 shift solenoid . Probably a wiring problem or the driver (transistor ) in side the control module . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Find the PCM - powertrain control module , then looking at a wiring diagram find the circuit from the PCM to the transmission wiring connector . An check the circuit ! Free wiring diagrams at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on transmission/ transaxle , subsystem transmission controls . Click the search button then the blue link .The first diagram shows 2-3 shift solenoid electrical circuit from PCM connector 2 - pin 44 to the trans. connector - C 113 pin B . Check for a open in the wire ,if no open check to see if the PCM driver is supplying a ground . Videos on youtube show how to test this .

I have a 97 chevy silverado c1500 ext cab 2wd automatic the truck stopped shifting. I had a tranny rebuild done and then park reverse and neutral worked but it wouldn't shift outta 1 st. Got new shift...

1st and 3rd gear only sounds like a broken sun shell he should feel bad... The only real issue on those 96 97 transmissions is the solenoid resistance values so swap ur solenoids with the one u want to put in and it will work fine if u do ur home work first.. U got to know why they wont work thats how u find cheats... But first and third sounds like a stripped or sheared shell...was reverse gone to
