Re: 2003 Pontiac Sunfire fuel pump
If you have one of those cars whit the fuel tank metal neck, in other words there is not rober hose going from the fuel cap to the tank but only a big metal pipe then what you have to do is remove the fuel cap and the plastic cover arround the cap and when you have good space then inser a pry bar or something inside the fuel tank neck and bent the pipe towards the floor and that will help you to get it out easier but make sure to discharge your boddy from any static current by touching fist the floor by hand
they are not easy to replace it is very hard but give it a try

this is a tip for all those who are looking for free diagrams, free diagrams are very hard to get... allthough most of us have access to diagrams, copywright laws prevent us from posting the diagram for free. alot of people ask for picture diagrams of what they are working on but most of the time there is not even a diagram in the vehicle service manual- your best bet with diagrams is to actually go to the dealership and ask them to print you out 1... they will most likely help u with this at no charge at all. the parts catalog that they use usually has an "exploded veiw" that shows what parts hook to the part your looking for. i also hear that autozone has something on ther website thats kinda like a service manual. so basicaly what i'm saying is there is no "free" manual or diagrams out there. hope this can save you a little time, and good luck.
Low fuel pressure will cause a miss fire, check the fuel filter, remove it,and ,by mouth, try and blow threw it,if it is at all restricted, replace it,if this does not help, replace the fuel pump, that is in the fuel tank.
The gauge problem sounds like the common issue on the 03-05 Sunfire instrument clusters where the stepper motors on the cluster's circuit board fail over time. It can be fixed, check out this page for more on how to get it repaired - Sunfire instrument cluster fix
