Yes you can, if by fog lights you mean after market ones., Just takes a switch, wire, 40 amp fuse and 5 pin relay, soldering iron, wiring conduit, sharp edge to bare wire, wiring diagram and some insulation tape.
If you plan on taking this problem on yourself, you most likely will need a wiring diagram, to track grounds and wires. Could be a short in the wiring causing the switch to go out. It is VERY unlikely for this kind of problem to happen more than once within a short period of time.. I dont mean to branch out and question your mechanics integrety, but in my experience, it SOUNDS like he MIGHT of replaced a fuse and called it fixed. A basic understanding of electricity could be a fix if you plan on doing so on your own. A simple resistance test throught the wires and switch would lead you to the bad wire, or switch. A couple other things to check would be your alternator (for OVER CHARGING), and a fuse diagram (to make sure somebody didnt put a high amp fuse where they shouldnt have....
Always check your fuses and relays first, cause it's cheap. Not to ramble solutions at you, but there might be a connection between your ignition and your headlight (so you dont leave your headlights on when you turn off the car) that might be bad, again, look into your wiring diagram to determine this connection.
