Replaced radiator, thermastat,heater control valve,on my 1990 cherokee and still boiling and blowing off recovery tank cap.whta the heck?

You have a blown gasket and are experiencing what is termed Blow by...
Blow by is where the engines compression is released into the coolent due to a faulty head gasket.

No pressure in radiator hose


Replace the radiator cap....a cap rated at 15 psi will provide an additional 40 to 50 degrees of boil over protection a faulty cap will cause the engine to boil over even with a proper mix of coolant at 220

The car was overheating i checked all hoses and replaced the thermostat the radiator it still is ovrheating and the water is boiling in the overflow tank


Answer could be a faulty thermostat,or it could be a sign that your head gasket is about to blow ,or last of all your timing could be out of sync.

Answer 2 from Inventus: It means your cooling system is funtioning properly. In a system having a coolant recovery tank, coolant in the radiator is always up to the brim, hot or cold. There is negligible or no air space. When coolant in the radiator expands sufficiently due to warming from the engine, it will squeeze past the pressure cap's bottom seal and flow into the recovery tank. (If no provision for such expansion was present, the expansion would rupture the radiator or your hoses.) Only coolant within the radiator is under pressure, and because of this pressure (together with the elevated boiling point that the "anti-freeze" permits), it normally does not boil. But once past the pressure cap's bottom seal, the overflow is at atmospheric pressure and therefore boils.
This boiling is usually unnoticed after a short, i.e., local, trip because the cooler coolant already in the recovery tank quenches it. But after some highway driving the influx of more hot overflow heats up all the coolant in the recovery tank to the (unpressurized, i.e., "natural") boiling point.
As the engine cools when shut off, the contracting coolant in the radiator sucks back coolant from the recovery tank. Fluid in the recovery tank should never be below the "full hot" or "full cold" marks, lest air be sucked in.

Your cooling fans are not turning on. It is not normal for your overflow tank to boil like that. It is true that your radiator is overflowing into the reserve tank, but that means yourr adiaotor is boiling. Check for blown fuses or relays for your cooling fans. IF theya re fine. run your engine for about 15 minutes and drive. When you temp level is at normal operating temp open your hood with the engine runing and see if your fans are on. If they are, then you may have a bad thermostat or a plugged radiator, or a bad water pump. If the fans are not on, get your cooling fan switch replaced if your car has one. Check your temp sending sensor

Seems to be overheating and blowing back to header tank and out presher cap could it be thermastat


How old is the fluid, old fluid could boil at a lower temp. The cap could be bad, if it isn't sealing up correctly at the right pressure, coolant could blow by. The radiator could be clogged. The thermostat could be bad, test it by using an old pot and boiling it in water to see if it opens up.

The heater in my 1990 olds wont heat up we checked the fluids they are fine and we put in a new thermostat. the heater just blows cold air


Here's a couple of other things to check;
Make sure heater control valve is working - feel the heater hoses w/heater on. Both hoses should feel warm/hot. Test or replace your radiator cap - it may fit tight but they do lose their ability to hold adequate pressure. Make sure fan belt is tight and not glazed - loose or glazed belts will slip through waterpump pulley not spinning waterpump at correct rpms

My heater doesn't seem to want to get hot. I have done a radiator flush with new antifreeze, changed the thermostat and it's still blowing out hot air.


If it's not blowing out hot air, the blend door may be the problem on the 1990 Isuzu Trooper.

Heater Water Control Valve REMOVAL & INSTALLATION On early models the heater control valve was part of the heater core inlet. To replace the control valve, remove the heater core as outlined in this section. Remove the control valve from the heater core, being careful not to damage the core. Use new gaskets when installing new valves. The remainder of the vehicles are not equipped with heater water control valves. They use heater unit doors to regulate the amount of heat entering the vehicle. --- I would check that both tubes running to the heater core are getting hot. If they are, then there is a blend door problem. If both tubes are not getting hot, the heater core is blocked somewhere or the heater control valve, if so equipped, is in need of replacement. 1999 cherokee heat question?


The valve would be connected in line in the heater hose going to the firewall often it will have a lever attached to it with a cable, can also be vacuum operated, look for a vacuum hose, if it has one. Most likely the heater core is plugged.

My 2001 toyota tundra heater wont blow hot air. I checked to see if the heater core is cloged it seems fine the heater control valve is operating properly, and I changed the thermastat. and yet the heater...


If you've changed the coolant recently, it could be air locked in the heater core. To remove park the truck with the front higher than the back and remove the radiator cap. Start the engine and let it run while watching for a big air bubble burp coming out the radiator neck. Top off the coolant and continue.

Heater doesn't blow hot air but the engine temperature warms up like it should


Check that the water level is correct in the radiator and make sure the water system is properly bled as if there is an air lock then this can cause the prob you describe and check the thermastat is working correctly by dropping it in boiling water and see if it opens fully.

Engine overheats when heater pipes connected


I think you could be right about there being air trapped in the system.
Or the heater core(radiator) is plugged.
Either way you need a pressurized radiator coolant pump to put the coolant in without air being trapped.
Although,i have seen it done by jacking the vehicle up high enough that the radiator was now higher than the heater core level, and then the coolant was put in.
But this is dangerous to try.
