Question about 2006 Subaru Baja

1 Answer

I am going to replace the front door audio speakers (factory) with after market speakers (poke audio DB651s). Can I just remove the grills from the factory speakers, unscrew them and put in the new speakers or do I have to remove the door panels?

Replaced Headunit with after market one, but now the dash lights don't work, Fuses are fine, everything else is fine. Car is 1999 Mazda 323

Hi, there is a factory wire (red with a black stripe) in your car for illuminating the stock radio. This wire is not to be used in an aftermarket radio, so you need to make sure it isn't connected and also isolate and bare wire with electrical tape. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Before I post this for you, I just wanted to let you know that you can buy an aftermarket harness that plugs right into your existing harness. Then it allows you to hook up to the wires without cutting your factory wires. They might even have it at Wal-Mart for less than $15. Anyway here are the specs. Don't forget to vote if this helped you out: Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Blue/Yellow

Front driver door speaker is blown and needs to be replaced. how do i do it

look on ebay or junk yard for replacement, just remove the cover and replace it with another, don't recommend after market unless you going to upgrade the radio and the sound. the problem with after market speakers is the hole is not align to the factory screw hole and you will need to do some drilling and some modification just to make it fit. the speakers wires is all plug in, just remove the old speaker and plug the wire back in the new speakers, only two wires involve, positive and negative.

Removing front and back speakers in 1991 Grand Am....

There is a lot involved in replacing these speakers. You should also know that the original factory speakers are 10 ohm speakers. This means that if you replace them with new speakers (most of which are 4 ohm) you run the risk of damaging the stereo, the speakers, or both. This can also cause a potential fire hazard in your car. If you want new speakers, you really should look at installing a new stereo as well.

To get to the back speakers, you will need to remove 2 bolts located under the front edge of the rear seat (bottom). After you remove the bottom, you will need to remove the rear seat (back). This involves removing the bolts that hold down the rear seat belts, which is a large sized torx bit (T-45, T-47, or T-50... Don't remember which). After removing these, lift straight up on the seat back to remove. Now remove the deck brake light housing, and the bracket that holds it. Now the deck cover can be removed. Be careful not to bend it too much getting it out from under the side trim on both sides.

For the front speakers, you must disassemble a good portion of the dash. Remove the screw holding the light switch and the wiper switch housings. This screw is underneath each housing. Once removed, there are dash mounting screws behind them. These screws (and many of the other dash screws) are a smaller torx-bit (T-10 or T-15, don't remember which). Sometimes they use a 7mm bolt. There is a cover panel just above the glove box. This panel is held on with 2 screws located in the glove box. After removing this panel, you will find 2 or 3 bolts holding on the dash. Last but not least, you will find 2 bolts inside each of the defroster vent grilles. These grilles just snap out for easier access to the bolts.

How do you replace the front door speakers in a 1999 Model Hyundai Excel?

You have to take the door panels off.
The front speakers are 6"
So remove the front door panels, unbolt the factory speakers, bolt the new one in the existing holes, reinstall the door panels.
The grills will look factory, but you will have better speakers. Nice way to keep the good stuff hidden from prying eyes.
