Van won't start, checked battery and starter, changed alternator. It will start when I turn the steering wheel very hard to the left while turning the key- sometimes. The marker lights stay on sometimes when the switch is off. The blinkers get stuck on, The headlights get stuck on when the switch is off. We tried to roll up the power window and it cuts all power to the radio and interior lights. Then the headlights just went out while driving down the road. About ten miles down the road it started to lose power then the transmission started sticking and it lost all power. We shut everything off and got out, keys out and the headlights came back- blinking every 30 or 40 seconds while switch is off and keys are out. HELP!!!!

A couple months ago it wouldn't start and the tow truck driver said it might be the battery, so checked the battery and he was right, replaced with a brand new battery and van drove fine up until 1 1/2 months when we were in a bitter cold spell -15F. Tried to start van and it will not start at all, checked battery, relay's and all are fine. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

You could have one of two problens. 1; It could be a electric problen to do with the "jenbox" or the power dist. box it would be behind the battery box or close to it. It could be shorting out.
2 ; I would check the selector switch on the top of your transmission,Your shifter cable connect here an it can stop the engine from starting. Hope this can help, actionjac

2000 windstar with a 3.8 motor cranks slow then stops and no start .Acts like a dead battery battery is good what can it be?

Bad connection or corroded cables, possibly a bad starter. Sounds like something is drawing more amps than the battery is capable of supplying.

1999 Windstar drives fine for awhile then something starts to happen the abs light comes on the trak light comes on the lights won't go hi and low no backup lights the turn signal won't turn o

Just as a precaution, please check the brake fluid reservoir on that model. There is a sensor at the base of the master cylinder which can leak brake fluid over the wiring circuit, and cause the electrics to short out. In some extreme cases this has caused fires in some vehicles. This is why Ford had issued a recall to this particular model in the states at least.

Car won't start, even automatic locks don't work

sounds like you need to replace your battery. If you havent tried to either charge the battery or have someone jump start your car and then let it run for awhile to charge up your battery. If you have done all those and things are still not working its time to replace. If your battery is about 4-5 years old or older then you need to replace battery. Hope this helps...Rick

I tried to check the fuses of my fords windstar for the right window, cause it was not working. But then , when start my windstar 95, it won't start. when turn on, nothing i wrong, but when to turn it...

Make sure battery has a full charge. Use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, what is the reading? The generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts. Note the reading. Leave the leads touching the battery posts, have helper turn key to crank, how much does the reading drop? Usually it shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts or there about. If it drops to zero, try charging the battery. Check battery cables. Did you try jumper cables to see if it would crank?

We have a 2000 Ford Windstar that was in getting the transmission fixed. Since working on the transmission, the car won't start. We gave them both keys and they said they needed to get new keys from...

I am assuming that the vehicle ran prior to getting the transmission repaired. If so you should not need any new keys and the computer should be good. The shop doing the work has obviously done something wrong. If it did not run prior to taking it in for the tranny then it could be many things. Hard to tell without seeing the vehicle. If it was running prior to the work and it's still in their hands I would suggest you get it away from them ASAP.

2000 ford windstar hard to start sometimes it will back fire. I don't always hear the fuel pump energizing.

Could be many things wrong at once.
Check your fuel pressure first, then check your spark plugs for spark, check your system for vacum leak.
