Check to make shore all timing mark's for cambelt line up properly.check airflow meter plug and throttel position sencer.

Some moisture is normal in the valve cover area. Condensation. If you can tell it's coolant(by the color), then you probably have a cracked head. Coolant won't make it to the top of the valves any other way. It would run bad also. When the had job was done, were the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and fuel filters replaced? Could also be the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump. I might even go as far as rechecking the timing. Clean the throttle and the idle air control motor also.

I would think a compression test would show if the cylinder is having mechanical problems. And yes the intake or head gasket could be leaking again, especially if the intake or head were warped or cracked.
Have you checked fuel pressure ?
Does the spark plug for cylinder 5 show signs of coolant leaking into the cylinder ?

Check for a leak at the intake manifold you can use some soap in a spray bottle spray along the intake and heads it will change the idle if its leaking

what about the coil pack? If you changed wires and plugs you should also change the coil pack which controls spark to all the plugs. Make sure you put the right wires on the right plugs.

Sound like an air / vacuum leak to me.
Re-check for an air leak on #2 cylinder inlet manifold.
Use a propane torch (unlit, of course) to flood propane gas around inlet manifold/head flange & gasket area.
If there is any change in idle speed during this test you have a vacuum leak.

This could be a bad fuel injector. Lean implies low fuel to the cylinder which will cause a misfire.

check the injectors on that bank for pulses.. a regular 12v text light will do it should flash when cranking... its very possible that the crank sensor or camshaft sensor on the replacement engine is bad and giving you all the problems you have now.. are you using the original injectors? if you have injector pulses then check the coil for pulses the same way.. btw make sure you have 12v to them even before cranking engine could be a bad asd relay..wet plugs on one bank would also indicate a possible leaking injector and basicly draing the fuel starving the oposite bank for fuel.. to verify that the rail must be lifted by removing all 4 bolts make sure the clips hold the injectors firmly and turn the key to run but dont crank it then look for fuel leakin from bottom of injector(s) any drips is a bad injector..

I had this same problem on mt 2004 jetta. It had 85,000 miles on it. one day it bagan to idle rough but seemed fine when at higher sppeds/rpms. after a weekm I took it to the dealership and it turned out that a few of the coils/springs were shot. they also replaced my spark plugs, costing me about $550 total. But the car runs great again.
