A Car battery can be replaced by a another Car battery with the following minium requirements:

  • physical dimension (L/W/H) that will fit the battery tray- so that you can clamp it back
  • the battery terminal are the same as original including which side the positive + and negative - poles are (yes, they make them in reverse!) - this is for ease of reconnection
  • with CCA (Cranking Amp rating) equal or higher than the original - higher is better and more expensive - the higher rating will provide stronger starting, support more appliance at the same time and can be used longer when the car is not running.
Hope it helps!

My opel corsa utility 1.4 bakkie isnot starting. sounds like a flat battery but when I check my battery I get 12 volts

Test the battery for load not volts. Use a load tester. If it falls below 9volts under load replace battery. If the battery is older than 3 years old replace it. A bad battery will damage the alternator (full field condition).

Can replacement battery with higher CCA than old one do damage?

Your starter will draw what it needs from the battery. The extra reserve in the battery won't be used except under adverse conditions, when you'll be glad you have it. Besides physical size and weight, that should not be a problem.

If the battery was made in china, Which walmart likes to buy from, I would go to another store and get one that will work for more than a couple of months. PS Don't get one from autozone either.

Any special instructions for replacing the battery in my 2007 Azera Ltd? I don't want to fry a circuit

easy way to replace the battery, is to undo the battery harness that holds in into the vehicle, then using a 10 mm spanner, undoe the terminal bolts, if you have a coded stereo, then i would advise to either look and make sure you have the code, or, using either jump leads from another vehicle, connect them to the neck of the battery wires, thus supplying a continuous supply so that the codes are not lost. then remove the leads from the battery on your vehicle and remove the old battery. replace with a new battery, tighten up the terminals and replace the battery harness. remove the jump leads and there you have replaced the battery
