Get a complete vehicle wiring diagram, and use a VOM,not a test light, to trace back till you find the issues.

How to fix no power to some fuses on fuse block 92 volvo 960

Hi Ron
Thats a tough one.... Starting behind the fuse box....

Start from the other end. All Power has to come from the Battery.
So... a main feed wire (thicker) might be open.

There is another type of fuse used on cars. They are called fusible links. Check the wires leaving the Battery Positive terminal with a MultiMeter. Or use a 12v Test Light or make one up.
There is probably an open circuit in a link cable or Circuit Breaker.

Perhaps a Relay turned on by the Ignition Key is not making contact.
Tap the relay to get the internal contacts better connected. Or remove a suspect & test with 12v to the relay coil & monitor contacts with multimeter.
Sure is easier than pulling the fuse box out
Good Luck

I have a 1997 sunfire 2.4. engine changed fuel pump relay an fuse am not getting any voltage to the fuse box or relay fuel pump will not kick on any suggestions?

the issue isnt the relay, your going to have to chase it down with your volt meter or test light, sorry no quick fix and fancy trick on this one. if the fuse box or relay box isnt getting power you need to follow the power lead until you find power again. once you find power the issue will most likely be obvious, like a bad connection or loose ground..hope this helps

Not getting fire to the fuel pump shut-off switch.

Hi, first check fuses 28 and 34 in the box under the hood. If the fuses are good, use a 12 volt test light or voltmeter to see if there is battery voltage at fuse 34. If there is voltage at the fuse, the problem is likely the fuel pump relay in the interior fuse box, but could be the ground signal/wire from the PCM. If there is no voltage at the fuse, check the socket of the PCM power relay. Pull the relay out, connect your test light clip to chassis ground, and probe the terminals in the relay socket. There should be one hot terminal with the key off and 2 hot terminals with the key on. If not, the PCM diode may be bad. Please let me know the outcome of your tests or if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

My headlights stopped working on my 1996 dodge dakota and i need to know what to look for to fix the problem.

First check fuse. If OK, find headlight relay in relay box under hood. Turn on lights, pull relay out, and use a test light to test each terminal in the socket for power. There should be 2 hot terminals, one from th ebattery and one from the switch. If you have only one, your switch or wiring are bad. Next, plug the relay back in and listen for a click as you do. If you had 2 hot terminals, the relay should click. If not, replace the relay. If you have 2 hopt terminals and the relay is working, the problem is in the wiring going form the relay box to the headlights. If you have more questions, please let us know.

My 2005 Equinox horn quit, is there a fuse I can replace? It looks like a square box that marked horn on the fuse box.

That's the horn fuse,you have located it;
I will assume that you have checked for a blown fuse, and that the fuse is good!! If not, check that first! With a test light and a jumper wire, you can locate the problem with little effort!
You can get a test light from any auto supply store, or from Wal-mart! They are only a few dollars and are a very helpful thing to have.

A jumper wire is just a piece of wire, that you can use to run power from one location to another! If you want to be fancy, you can put alligator clips on both ends!

-Start by locating the horns and pulling the wire off of one. Attach your test light to a ground and use the probe (pointed end) to connect to the horn wire.

-Have someone hit the horn button on the steering wheel! If the test light lights, then the horn(s) are bad and will need to be replaced! Just to be sure, take your jump wire and run from the positive battery post to the horn power connector (where you pulled off the wire) and make sure that the horn does not sound with direct power!

-If there is no power to the horn, you will need to check the horn relay to see if it is getting power. If it is the relay is bad! If there is no power to the relay, the problem is in the steering column or steering wheel horn button!

-Most likely the horn or the horn relay is bad!

Good luck!!!

First, check with the key on to see if you have power to the pump, if no power then we'll look elsewhere, Some solutions could be a faulty pump Or Inertia switch, but that does not match with having to tap the fuse box to start it, Also, remove the fuel pump relay and with the key on test for power to the relay, this can be done with a simple test light.
