Question about 2002 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Hond Accord with a V6 engine and about 54,000 miles. One mechanic told me I was overdue for a timing belt; another mechanic said it should be replaced by 10 years. What is your recommendation?

I have a 2002 Honda Accord V6. When I go to start the engine, it takes forever! It cranks but will not start for a long time. Someone said it may be the fuel pressure regulator, does anyone else know

Could be the fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Did you have anybody do a fuel pressure test on it. I've owned honda's before. How many miles since timing belt was change. Timing could be off. You can test with a timing light or by having it hooked to a diagnostic tester at Autozon, O'riellys or Advance Auto.

1995 accord timing belt schedule

If the timing belt has been replaced recently, a mechanic can inspect it taking the cover off, and tell you, that won't cost big money.

If it has been replaced 50K miles ago it wont be possible to know.

If the car has 114K miles, I suggest taking it to a mechanic and replacing the timing belt.

I have a 2002 Honda Accord SE with around 119k miles. The timing belt and water pump were replaced around 100k miles at a Honda dealership. The check engine light comes on and stays on for a day or two...

your mechanic is exactly right.theres really no way of knowing which component is going bad, unless that light is on. thats the only time the code reader will tell which sensor it is,and you can spend a fortune replacing sensors and may still miss the one thats going bad. thank you for choosing fixya.com

My car has a leaky water pump and the mechanic said they have to replace the timimg belt as well i have a 1995 honda accord v6 engine with over 200 and something miles

yes, you should have the timing belt changed every 80,000 mi. on a Honda. You got your use out the one from the factory, if that's how long you've owned your car.

A leaky water pump is common on Hondas with that much mileage.

When it rains it pours.

Don't worry, timing belts don't cost that much to replace. really they don't.

How many miles to replace 2000 honda accord LX V6 3.0

i am guessing that you are asking about replacing the timing belt on your honda .. if so then here is the replacement schedule

under normal driving 105,000 miles or 84 months
under extreme temp 60,000 miles or every 48 months (hot or cold climates)

its a good idea to change the water pump and tensioner pullies at the same time.. they dont add much to the parts cost ...

its not a good idea to wait for belt failure. interference engines like yours will do a lot of damage if the belt fails.

Timing belt on Accord 2004 v6 models

2003 and up Honda Accord with 4 cylinder engines do indeed have a chain and the V6 has a belt which must be replaced at 110,000 miles. Why? Ask Honda, they designed the engines.

Maintenance Required won't go off on a 2002 Accord?!

Hi. If this is the original timing belt on this vehicle, i would recommend changing it as soon as possible. a worn timing belt can cause issues in timing and it can also bend the valve assembly if the belts teeth become shorten or bare. This service light can be reset but, it will continue to come on in intervals until you preform the diagnostic scan and repair the parts that are highlighted by the cpu. I seriously recommend that this car be driven to a dealership for a quick scan so that you can prevent any serious damage that may occur.

Please rate and god bless:)
