Question about 1994 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

Change fuel pump on 94 buick park ave....after market part had no polarity markings....possibly a rotated pump 180 degrees and installed reverse polarity...i need to know which wires on harness go to pump and which go to the sending unit. I am planning on making junctions at harness rather than dropping tank again. I have a blk, purple, gray, then gray/white at harness in that order. Can anyone help me out?? Pump runs with no pressure so i am assuming it suctions rather than pumping

Commonly submerged in the fuel tank. Some require the removal of the bottom rear seat, others need entire tank dropped to access.
If memory serves, you will need to drop the tank to access on the P.Ave.
Save yourself some time and pop off the rear seat just to be sure.

with the key on there should be power (12 volts) to 2 terminals, you need to cycle the key to sense the power, it only stays on 5 seconds, have someone turn the key on and off while u check..

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

Power seat motor

Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

Need to replace fuel pump on a 1998 buick park avenue

you have to remove hoses off the filler tube by removing the clamps then drop the fuel tank by removing the two strap bolts on th tank and lower the tank down then loosen wires and hoses and with a flat screw driver and tap the lock ring counter clock wise to get the pump to come out be sure to disconnect the positive battery when working on the fuel pump lube the o-ring before installing new pump and install in reverse order, before putting tank back into plac e turn key off then to runpostion about ten times then try to start it if it runs your ready to put the tank back in. DO NOT BUY AFTER MARKET PUMP FOR THIS BY OEM ONLY! or you will be replaceing the pump again in a short time. also change the fuel sock and fuel filter, this is a 4 hour job for a first timer.

Car just shuts off while driving

I would suspect a bad fuel pump. Fuel pressure test will confirm this. Can also be a clogged fuel filter, or bad relay.
