1997 ford explorer V6. Engine was idling to warm up, went in house for 10 minutes. Came out engine smoking knocking like crazy. Shut off engine and opened hood, oil was sprayed all over engine oil...

this sounds like the engine oil cooler hose was leaking.

DO NOT run the engine again until you fill with oil.

start the engine and look for the hose that is leaking.

I have the 2.4l engine, having trouble with timing chain tensioner, the plunger is in the reset position, how do you get it to engage?

never seen one for this vehicle to be totally honest but most adjusters like this have to twisted a bit to clear a pin then it shoots out ,but on a ford scorpio with a 2,2 litre engine you have to start hte engine and it fills with oil

My 1997 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer v8 AWD makes a really deep ticking/clicking sound when running. It's hard to describe the sound, but it's almost as if you can hear each piston cranking. As I accelerate...

It could be rod knock: if so, plan on an engine change/rebuild. On my 97 F 250, 5W motor oil is recommended,so you can't put in heavier oil. But that's not a solution. Something mechanical is askew.

I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer that has oil, but no pressure

There's something you can do to check if the oil pump is still working screw off the oil filter and start it only for a few seconds if oil shoots out the pump is working if it doesn't the pump could be clogged or it lose prime if it's working check the wire going to the oil pressure switch may be broken.

Oil shoots out bottom only after starting car. The plug has already been tightened.

Hi,I am Ron,It really sounds like a oil pressure switch that has gone a leaking. This can be purchased at your local auto parts store and is fairly easy to replace. The part is not to costly. This is what tells you that the oil presure is not good in the engine. It could be a oil light or a oil gauge, either one will leak,or in this case shoot out.If I can help, let me know.>>>roniecon@gmail.com

Where is the oil pan located on me 1997 lincoln continental?

The simple answer is, bolted to the bottom of the engine. Ford and Lincoln vehicle generally have the cross member right under the engine, so the oil pan is obscured by it. Many oil pans on rear wheel drive Ford products have 2 oil sumps or wells, 1 near the front just behind the belt pulleys, and the other just behind the cross member, this one also has the oil drain plug for oil changes. Not sure why you are looking for the oil pan, so I hope this helps.
