Joe - you're incorrect! Wow if everytime a customer had failed an emission test due to ODBII codes I'd be a very rich man. But in reality if I replaced a catalytic per your reasoning, I'd either be sued to death or in jail for fraud!

P0505 is Idle Control Valve malfunction and on a 98 7 series, if lucky it can be cleaned or will need to be replaced. P1140 is for the MAF and it too will either need to be cleaned with CRC MAF cleaner or replaced! Please don't claim GURU status if you don't really know! Be a true mechanic and help diagnose - not just an R&R parts monkey.

2005 gmc canyon computer not ready and not reading codes

If the check engine light was on DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's should be stored . If the light was on , disconnecting the battery won't do anything . Diagnostic's need to be done . Sounds like you have no clue , so best advice , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Emmissions failed due to the following. OBD Connector Integrity - malfunction indicator light (MIL) status This is for a 2000 chevy lumina

MIL status is error codes, but usually for pre 1995 vehicles. If you check engine light was on, then it would not pass emmissions. Since your vehicle is a 2000, I would suggest you take it by an autoparts store and have them read your error codes before you try to reset them. Make sure you write them down in the order they come off their scanner.

Yu can usually clear error codes by disconnecting your battery.

Service engine soon code P1140

Hi, the code P1140 mens there is a problem with the right side cam position sensor. You will need to replace the sensor, this is a common type of problem and make sure the engine oil is clean and full before you replace it because this can also set the codes.
You can use a 5-30w oil, you can use a synthetic oil, change the oil and filter, reset the code and if it comes back on again, then replace the sensor..

I failed emmissions test and the code p0327 I have a chevy venture van

This code relates to the knock sensor circuit. Replace the sensor and the light will go out. This will allow the engine to pass the emissions test. Hope this helps...
