It's complaining about the battery in the key fob. Ether there is a source of interference close by (I'm told WiFi can upset some remote fobs) OR (maybe) the battery in the fob really does need replacing ...

My Peugeot saying plip battery spent, where can I get new battery from

The warning is regarding the battery in you key fob remote, used for central remote locking and alarming your car and registering the key to the car. It takes a small flat battery like a watch battery: CR1620-Lithium-Battery. You may have to reprogramme it after changing the battery though. Purchased from Peugeot or any good electrical store.

Peugeot 406 key fob not operating central locking

406 FOB / PLIP PROGRAMMING :

The 406 deadlocking remote control has specific button controls, and if the vehicle has two controls, one is set as primary and the other as secondary.

When replacing the Plip, a Primary or Secondary Plip are different part numbers and must be ordered as required. The white label inside the Plip is labelled PRIM or SEC.

1. Turn the Ignition switch ON.

2. Press the large Plip key button (Primary Plip)

3. Within 10 seconds press the large Plip key button (Secondary Plip)

4. If there is one remote, press the Primary plip button twice.

5. Turn ignition OFF.

6. Test Plip's for correct operation.
NOTE : On some 406 models, Plips cannot be re-synchronised unless the battery has been disconnected for 1 minute

hi this is the battery in your key remote, it is saying it needs to be replaced soon or it will not work so just replace the battery in the fob, be sure to do this in 60 seconds or you will need to re-program the fob, just in case you do not get the battery in, in time, here is how to re-program it as follows Turn the ignition switch to the ON position using the first key.
Press the LOCK button for 10 seconds.
Remove the key and wait for 10 seconds.
Check the Plip key operation.
Repeat for second Plip key if required.
Turn the ignition OFF

hope this helps please comment and rate thanks

When i turn on the key on my peugeot 207 i get this msg 'PLIP battery spent'. What does this mean and how can I fix it please?

In other words the charging system is not keeping the battery fully charged. You can recharge the battery yourself and see if it will hold a charge and if not replace it yourself or take it to an automotive shop and have them test it for you. However it could be a bad Alternator causing the battery problem or the battery clamps may be corrowded and in need of a good cleaning. You could also check the Alternator Voltage output, if you have the right equipment and know how. Or take it to a shop and have them check it out for you. Good Luck.and have a good XMASS.

What does the diagnostic computer mean when it says PLIP BATTERY SPENT? on A Peugeot 307 Estate

It means your Keyfob remote battery need replacing... have it replaced at citroen, if you mess it up it can be expensive, rather pay £5 for a battery than £100 for an immobiliser reset...

leave feedback good or bad.
