Check the diaphram first to see if it leaks if working properly it should shudder. to check the egr locate and squezze up from the bottom this should cause the shudder. if not trace the vaccum hose back to the solenoide. if no vaccum leaks i would check the solenoide .

Catalytic converter melt down. Does the car temp rise from time to time too? That converter could be the cause.

00 Camry 2.2 egr problem po 401 low flow new egr valve new solenoid new transducer new map clean passages. I don't know what else to do

Here is an overview for the code as it relates to Toyota cars.
I would go back and make sure the tubes and pipes are clear.
In most cases, the passage is plugged up, or the sensor does not "see" the flow.

Possible causes
- EGR passage clogged
- Faulty EGR Vacuum Modulator Valve
- Faulty EGR Valve
- Faulty EGR solenoid valve
- EGR solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- Dead (Weak) battery
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit
- Exhaust gas leaks

Our 97 camry check enginlight is on shop says code is for the erg valve, it does not look that hard to change should i just change the valve with the hoses or the whole unit?

Try to change the egr valve, the part with the hose connected to it. That's, of course, that if the egr solenoid is working correctly. Be sure to clean the carbon out of the recess hole that the egr valve pintle goes into.

Good luck on this repair.

Check light on,problem shows on p 0401

P0401-Insufficient flow in the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR-valve). Check your gas cap for cracked seal, check EGR valve (make sure all vacuum hoses aren't leaking), check also VSV (vacuum switching valve) for proper operation. Its best to get an owner's manual or an experienced mechanic to diagnose!!hopefully this helpd
