SOURCE: my idler pulley is making a squeaky light grinding niose.

belt dressing / new belt / but the grinding means the idler puller is going to grenade soon and you wont have any belt on it so go buy a new idler and change it right away or you risk the engine overheating by not turning the water pump .if it's grinding greasing the old one wont do much help .damage is already done in the bearing .and there sealed bearings . you just throw away the old 1.

SOURCE: How do I replace the coolant temperature sensor on

If you look on the front of your upper water hose going from motor toraditor, you will see a small wire and plug assy. that will be the sensor and just unscrew and replace. Good luck it is quite easy to do.

2003 nissal altima for 3 yrs now it will shake heavily when the air or heat is on and it is idling at a stoplight. The same sound occurs sometimes in reverse or just idling.Dealership keeps saying idle...

SInce idler was replaced, I would suggest A/C Pulley myself. They do get worn out from use as well as altenator pulley. then it could be the shaft itself, or the voltage regulator is not putting out enough power.

Charging & Brake lights flash, belt is intact (1997 Altima)

Suggest replacing alternator if charging is an issue, also the battery as a bad cell will normally kill the regulator due to non stop charging condition.

if your idler pulley is squealing get it replaced before that belt locks up, cuts loose and hurts stuff under your hood. At 2000-4000 rpm that belt will grab and wrap up alot of things very quickly if it wants.

How do you release tension on idler pulley to replace serpentine belt

There should be another pulley that looks like the idler pulley but is located just a little further down in the serpentine pulley system. This is the tensioner. Use a wrench or a shallow well socket to crank it to gain slack and slide the belt off the uppermost most easily accessible pulley. The tensioner will probably pivot toward the rear of the vehicle so you'll want to crank it toward the front of the vehicle (if the serpentine belt assembly is on your driver's side, reverse this).

1997 Nissan Altima 2.4L serpentine belt and ac belt replacement. How do I do this? I have removed the damaged alternator and have a replacement along with the belts but cannot see the belts well. Do I...

there is an idler pully for the AC belt and im sorry this will have to be done from underneath the car because the idler pulley is on the very bottem. if you can jack it up. and put some stands underneath and it should be no problem. refer to this link on diagram #6 for the location of pulley. i hope this information helps. comment back if you need further assistance,2326001/initialAction,repairGuide/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c152800785c6

RE: 2001 Nissan Altima air conditioner

Sounds to me like you need the alternator idler pulley. Look at it and see if it has a big washer covering portion of the pulley, or if the washer is inside the pulley. If its inside, than you have an old pulley. Replace it with the one, that has the big washer in the middle of pulley. You do have another idler for the A/C compressor. Those I have seen fail also. But 80% of the time its the alternator idler pulley.
