Wehad this problemb when ou mecanic changed the roter cap he bumped the timeing so it was off just a little then of course wanted to charge to fix it we just turned or nudged the poins module under the cap alittle and it idles now. not perfect but better

clean the idler on the intake and also clean the throttle sensor, it would also be best to change the air filter and clean the maf sensor. Idler does more than just idle vehicle it controls low revs, and drop down from reves. throttle sensor tell ecu what air to add to the fuel. and the MAF tells ecu how much air is coming into the intake. also check for broken cracked vacuum lines.
replace the TPS ,@ throttlebody, throttle position sensor, either needs replaced, or the 2 bolts that hold it on came loose, sensor needs to be turned a little , to increase throttle, then retighten bolts. should also tighten the throttlebody bolts to intake manifold,
Can be several things. May just need a tune up:spark plugs, wires, rotor cap and button, fuel filter, air filter. It may also need a timing adjustment, Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, or throttle position sensor. Do the tune-up first and see what it does.

sounds real easy either a bad idle air control solenoid or more likley a blown throttle body gasket. to test fro a blown gasket, with engine running and cool spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner around base of tb were it bolts to intake. when it hits the bad area, should idle down and be normal for a second or 2. iac is possible,try this first since its so common and let me know
Have a fuel pressure test done, that will show a weak fuel pump, or bad fuel pressue regulator, also have the throttle position sensor checked.
Could be the idle air control valve,
could be the fuel bypass valve.
Without checking and testing, it's hard to pin point the problem.
