Question about 1999 Mazda 626

2 Answers

2001 Mazda 626 4cyl 2.0L. After being stuck in LA freeway traffic on a really hot day with the A/C going. When I got home I turned the car off and the radiator fan keep going. After about two hours it still was going so I pulled the negative lead off the battery. The problem persists now so I have to pull the neg lead off the battery in order to stop the fan. Then when I want to start the car I connect the neg lead back on the battery

You need to change the fan relay. It is either in the fuse box or in the inner fender area. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Your cooling fan relay is stuck shut, replace it, it should be located in the engine compartment fuse box, refer to the owners manual for location and relay number if not marked.

I gave you the very first thing we check in the shop, the relay is the switch that turns the fan on and off, the electrical contacts in them get burned closed this keeps the fan on. I have 35 years of automotive electrical trouble shooting to back me up on this. would u like to call me about this 925-577-7157

1999 Protege overheating. Changed thermostat, radiator, water pump and burped the new radiator. Runs fine on freeway, but will overheat in stop and go traffic.

if your vehicle has electric cooling fans it could be that they are not working,if this is the case when you are on the freeway you don't need the cooling fans you only need them when the vehicle is not moving as there is no air going through the radiator to keep the engine cool......hope this helps......cheers.

I have a 2001 Mazda Millenia that died on the freeway. Got it home and pulled the Fule line by the Fuel rail and its not pumping fuel. How can I test the fuel pump with out pulling the whole gas tank out ?

Find wires on top of fuel tank , that go to fuel pump .
Get test light or multimeter.
Connect multimeter to the wires,
Turn the key on.
If you get voltage and pump is silent , you need a new pump.
If you don't get voltage it's probably fuel pump relay.
Just remember , the voltage will be there for about 5 second after you turn the key to ON position without firing the engine.

Car has white smoke coming from tail pipe

sounds like a blown head gasket letting coolant get injected into the engine and getting burned with the fuel. a head gasket replacement should help

Mazda 626 - Hard to shift into gear.

With any vehicle that has a hydraulic clutch, a worn master cylinder or slave cylinder will give this very symptom. First step is to check the fluid in the resivor. If it is low, you will want to check for fluid bypassing the seals. Be sure to check under the rubber dust cover as fluid can collect there and not be readily visible. Also, if the fluid in the resivor is dark colored, it is an indication of the internal seals going bad and you will need to replace the cylinders.

Engine over heating.

freeway driving gets more air across the radiator
so the temp sender unit is faulty as this activates the fan by completing the fans circuit!
replace it & al should be A OK !!

About a year ago I took my '01 Miata into the dealer for a stalling problem. The car would lose power and die in traffic and the check engine light would come on. After about five minutes it could be...

the most likely problem is the cam sensor in you valve cover. we see this all the time here in Florida. once the sensor heats up it fails and starts working again when it cools off. try replacing it with on from the dealer and you should have no more problems.
