The center armrest console lid in my LeSabre will not open and I can't tell from looking at it how the top latches to the bottom. Can you tell me how the latch works so I can try to work it open without breaking it?

sometimes you can see the bolts hold the latch on and remove then with a 10 mm socket

I think I can help you with this problem I need to know if the power lock on the drivers door makes a sound when you try to lock it with the switch. The are notorious for going out. It is most probably the actuator inside the door and will require removal of the inner panel. These are held into place with several screws and plastic clips. I hope this will get you started in the right direction, it's been a while since I have to change one of these but I beleive new the actuator is around 70.00 or you can purchase on from a wrecking yard online at car-parts.com, this is a great sight for a good price on used parts. i have that car, i don't have any issue.. maybe they glued it to trick you?

Solved it. Found a small shank screwdriver that fitted into the opening with a little bending of the plastic frame. managed to replace it with a new one without trouble. No further help needed. dave
