Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Had the metal part of the dist. rotor car died replaced cap and rotor runs terrible had it towed is it possible that a fuel kill switch has been compromised if so where is it?

    No idea what you are talking about "metal part"??? If the rotor was broken try moving the shaft that the rotor is attached to back and forth. If it moves the distributor is bad. That will break the rotor.

There is no fuel kill switch on any jeep/chrysler product.

Is it possible that you put the wires back on the new cap in the wrong order?

The most common reason for this would be a bad distributor or coil, the distributor contains modules and other components, depending on the type of the distributor the coil may also be part of it, i would star by running the engine until it dies and then check it for spark, if theres no spark then i would start with a coil and then if that doesnt help i would replace the dist, note; make sure to replace the distributor cap and rotor also, with coil first, then replace the dist if the car still dies out. good day.

Hi I have a1988 chevy k1500 died changed coil dist wire from coil to dist have fuel no spark any ideas thanks

remove dist cap and rotor, under the rotor there is a control module (its about 1/4" tall, 1" wide, and 2-2 1/2" long) remove the module and take it to a parts store and have it tested. If its bad replace it and put dist back together and try starting it again. if thats not it then have coil check. Oh ya before you take anything apart disconect battery.

I have a 99 oldsmobile silhouette van - we have changed the plugs, o2 sensor, had the njectors cleaned, and the car runs bad.... if you press on the gas the RPM go down - it is like it is smothering.. Went...

Look under your distributor cap. It should be clean have good metal contacts. Also look at the rotor button right under that. It should have a nice shiny metal contact. This spins under your distributor and fires your spark plugs. Wipe it with your finger or a rag and drive. If that was it...replace the cap and rotor.

Had work done on my car (36K miles on the car): oil change, new plugs, new plug wires, new dist cap, new dist rotor, fuel filter, pvc valve, and brake work. Now it runs like ****. rough running and exhaust...

Sounds like a fuel mix problem possibly the oxygen sensor. If it ran like this immediately after the new plugs, I would check to make sure all the plug wires are on the right plugs and secure. Good luck!

1994 volvo 850 has no spark, was running and died. Have checked everything back to the computer. Is it possible to check Computers?

Yes,it is possible with diagnostic equipment.In your case you heed to check ignition amplifier and coil.They are together.

make sure that the right cap goes to the right plug. they are specific to firing order.
