Not an easy job. Oil pan needs to come off, front axles need to be removed. Unless you are an experienced DIYer, this is job for a shop.

This requires you nearly overhaul the entire differential minus the ring and pinion, all bearing must be replaced as the metal from the failed one has damaged the others three bearings and they will fail shortly. This job requires many special tools including a hydraulic press, remove the entire unit and have a shop rebuilt it to save money.

Your problem is most likely in the front differential, specifically the Intermediate Shaft Bearing assembly. This area of the differential suffers from poor lubrication and is prone to early failure such as bearing damage. The assembly is located on the passenger side of the front differential. The repair of this assembly is not a DIY project unless you are familiar with 4WD systems.

Looking on, the calipers are about $50 each, similar for rotors, and the pads are about $60 for the set. Total parts is about $250. Labor is about 2-3 hours. $1200 sounds steep to me. I would ask for a line item estimate. Thanks for using FixYa.
