Th fob may need to be re-programmed. It's different for all cars, but it should have it in your manual. Do you have only 1 fob? If not, does the other work? My best suggestion is to buy another fob from ebay, which is where I pick mine up all the time. These will need programmed, but a little looking on the internet will give you directions on how to program the fob, or the seller could give you instructions.

Here are some instructions I have found.

Program Method B (Customer Program Method)

    1. Press [LOCK] button 5 times at 2 second intervals to resynchronize transmitter. Attempt to function transmitter, it working as designed discontinue programming.

    2. Turn ignition to the run position (Allow Ignition chimes to stop).

    3. Using original transmitter, press and hold the [UNLOCK] button on the transmitter for between 4 and 10 seconds.

    4. Continue to hold the [UNLOCK[ button and press the [PANIC] button. A chime will sound to indicate that the transmitter programming mode has been entered (Allow 3 seconds for chime to sound).

    5. Press a button on all transmitters to be programmed into the system including any previously programmed transmitters; a chime will sound when each transmitter has been programmed.

    6. Turn the ignition to OFF position to exit the transmitter programming mode.

Your vehicle needs a working fob from what I have found. But some vehicles, don't require one. I had both of my fobs quit and I was able to program one of those back to working condition. I would search the internet a little more to find out some other ways that have been able to fix the fob. The transmitter (receiver) may not be working. Does your panic button work or none of the buttons work? If none of them, then it's got to be a receiver issue not responding to the transmitter (FOB).

Well, it sounds like i'm going to a locksmith or to a dealer to get the original fob working because none of the buttons are working and the fob may not be working at all.

    And thanks for the help.

Why does my 2001 f250 keep locking and unlocking while truck is off

1. Bad ground or connection at one of the door lock activators and/or switch. 2. Bad relay. 3.A loose or bad connecting door button (the plastic button in the door jamb that tells the car that your door is closed, it usually also activates the interior light. 4. Your key fob might have a problem. I had a Taurus where the key fob had a very small loose piece of wire in it and it caused the connection inside to conduct, thus activating the door lock when the key-fob moved in my pocket. Take the batteries out of the key fob. Does the door still lock and unlock?

08 dodge ram key FOB reprogramming

ATTENTION: You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. If you do not have one working remote right now then these instructions will not work. You will have to have a Locksmith or dealership use a computer to program the first remote for you.

Click here to find a Locksmith in your area to program this remote.
1. Enter your vehicle and close all doors.

2. Fasten your seat belt ( fastening the seat belt will cancel any chiming that may
confuse you during this programming procedure.)

3. Place key into the ignition.

4. Turn the ignition to the ON position ( DO NOT START THE ENGINE )

5. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on a working remote.

6. Continue to hold the UNLOCK button, wait at least 4 seconds, but no longer than
10 seconds, then press and hold PANIC button.

7. When a single chime is heard, release both buttons. The chime indicates the system
is in program mode.

8. Press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, simultaneoulsly on the remote
to be programmed.

9. A single chime will be heard. The chime indicates the the remote was recognized.

10. Within 4 seconds of hearing the chime, press and release any button on the remote
being programmed.

11. A single chime will be heard The chime indicates the remote has been programmed.

12. Repeat steps 8 to 11 for a total of 4 remotes.

13. Turn the ignition to the OFF position or wait 60 seconds to exit program mode.

Key fob will not undo cetral locking or disable car alarm changed battery in key fob still having no luck any idea who can re code key fob to central locking and alarm?

If you don't have one that works for the vehicle now, you'll have to take it to your local dealer to have it programmed to the vehicle. Some will charge for this, some will do it at no charge.

If you do have a remote that is programmed and working for the vehicle, then the following steps will allow you to program another remote:

1. Enter vehicle and close all doors.

2. Put seatbelt on (or clip it into the buckle) to shut the warning buzzer off.

3. Put key in ignition, turn to run position but don't start it.

4. Press and hold the unlock button on the working key fob and hold for 4 seconds, then also press the panic button.

5. Release both buttons and you should hear a single chime to indicate it is in program mode. You have 30 seconds after the chime to program any additional remotes you want to program.

6. Press and release both the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously on the remote you are programming. You should hear another single chime.

7. Within 4 seconds after hearing the chime, press either lock or unlock button on remote that you are programming.
