Question about 1999 Cadillac Escalade

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Cadillac Escalade the battery keeps going dead. I just replaced the battery under a year ago. I haven't left anything on. I've heard about ABS systems going bad and possibly fuel pump staying on. I'm getting ready to have my alternator tested today. What else could cause a drain on my battery?

Bought two brand new battery but my cadillac 07 escalade wont start. what could be drainng the battery

The cables are the next thing to check. The corrosion can go under the insulation and cause them to fail.

02 Escalade will not start

It will most likely be a poor earth issue, make sure the earth lead between the battery and the body is good and clean and check the one between the body and motor.
Poor earth connections cause excessive current draw and will blow fuses.

Any way to get in an escalade with a dead batery

You will have to get into the hood manually to jump the battery and the use the key less entry. Use a long flathead screwdriver and pop the hood latch. To do this simply push the latch horizontally with the screwdriver and the hood will pop open. Jump the battery and you will be able to get into your vehicle. I would then address the reason your battery dies if not replace it.

How do you open 1999 escalade hood

When you sit in the drivers seat there is a lever on the left side panel by your left foot. Pull the lever and push it back in place. this releases the hood latch. then reach just under the hood and another lever is there that you can push up as you lift the hood.

1999 cadillac escalade. Windows, radio, and wipers do not operate.

Thanks for the advice about the BCM. The BCM is located under the center console. There are a total of 4 screws keeping it attached. Two in the center by the CD changer and two under the drink holders. I found that the harness on the BCM of my Escalade was connected but had issues. I could push or pull up and down on it and my cars functions would go on and off intermittently. I grabbed some electrical tape and zipties and tightened up the wiring by attaching it to part of the framework on the console. PROBLEM SOLVED, at least for now. By the way, the Cadillac dealer told me that it is RARE that they have to replace these BCMs. They usually need a re-program that costs around $100.
