There are a number of possible problems. Try gently touching the accellerator while you crank the engine. If the TPS or throttle position sensor is bad, the pressure on the accellerator will position it to a spot where it is not worn out. If it starts better this way replace the TPS.

You should also consider a new fuel filter and a fuel pressure test. Both Autozone and Oreillys will run a scanner on your car for free. If there is a problem recorded the scan will show it. They probably will not test the fuel pressure, you will have to go to another place for that.

The engine is suppose to have a cold start routine. If it starts better when warm, that may be your problem. There are some water temperature sensors (Not for the Dash gauge) that put the idle up and enrich the fuel for a few minutes. The other possibility is fuel bleed-down or starvation. A new fuel filter may help restore pressure, but if its a bleed-down problem it may be fuelpump valving or a hole in the fuel line.

The fuelpump test should indicate a bad pump or leak as a problem. If you have a helper and a Vacuum gauge you can also check the manifold vacuum pressure while the engine is cranking. You need Vacuum to draw in the fuel to the cylinders. If you have a hole in the EGR or any open Vacuum line the fuel will not draw into the motor. Once the engine is warm, more Vacuum is created by the pistons and it may start better hot than cold.

My 2000 Dodge Caravan won't start

Are you saying the engine will not crank, or crank but will not start ?
None of the engine sensors come into play until after the engine is cranking.
Cranking problems can include the neutral safety switch and other factors with the crank circuit back to the key switch.

2003 SDi Volkswagen Polo, hard to start in mornings. Changed air filter, glo plugs, fuel filter and no change. I read the code with the OBD scan tool and I got code PO113 IAT sensor 1 Circuit High inp

Have that sensor checked or replaced. If the computer gets the wrong input signal from the intake air temperature sensor, it may not realize the engine is cold and not delivering enough gas at start-up.

To clarify, the engine cranks and starts. If it cranks but won't start until 4 or 5 tries, I would check the fuel pressure before and after the first attempt. The check valve in the pump may be faulty and allowing the fuel to flow back to the tank when it is not running. The pump only gets power for the first 3 seconds during crank time until the engine starts.

Saturn vue 2002 starts when it wants to

sounds like a bad crank sensor, nothing you did wrong, just a common 3.0 v6 saturn issue, its located on the front of the engine block under the car by the oil filter housing,,,like $115 for the sensor

2006, 3.0L V6 is hard to start

Based on what you described.
You have weeak ignition spark. The reason you have to wait for 1 hour to restart later to have all flooded fuel dried out so the sparks could ignite combustions.
1- Change all spark plugs.
2- Change air filter also
Have each spark plugs checked sparks when cranking to find out which one is really bad to replace the coil pack if applicable.

After these, if it still happens, then have the Cold start valve checked and replaced.

You don't need to go to a dealer. You can have any local shop to do this for you. Then you can control what you want them to do for you, not other way around for baloney recomendations from dealers. Good luck.

Hard starting cranks fine and starts after 20 seconds of cranking, is a sensor out?????

some vehicles when a certain sensor goes bad the computer in the car wont let the engine start until it knows that the engine has oil pressure. thats why it cranks for so long. the engine is building oil pressure from starting it. not sure what sensor it could be on your ford though.
